Trip to China

Friday-Sunday, July 4-6, 2008 We have been really busy the last few days and have not had a chance to get to the business center before it closes. On July 4, we took a walk through town to see Nanchang. We started by watching the seniors ballroom dance in the market next to the hotel. Melynda attracted many people. Our guide, Grace gave us a card with information that we were adoptive parents and information on Melynda. When we showed this card to the people, we receive either thumbs up sign or a thank you. We can’t believe how kind and gracious the people in China are to us. They are really friendly and I regret not learning more Chinese to be able to speak to them. After our walk, I spent over 3 hours completing paper work for Melynda’s Visa. On July 5, Melynda had her first airplane ride. We flew from Nanchang to Guangzhou . We are here to complete the information to obtain Melynda’ Visa. Melynda did really well on the plane. She fell asleep shortly after we took off and slept until we got on the bus to the hotel. We are staying at the White Swan Hotel on the Shaman Islands . The hotel is like a resort hotel. It is really beautiful and there is a wonderful light show on the river at night. Melynda had a minor breakdown last night and cried non-stop for over two hours. We think it was because of the change in hotels and her teething. She had two teeth break through this week. She fell asleep about 9:30 pm and slept until 4:30 am. She woke up this morning as the happy baby that we have come to know. Today, I went on the tour of the Chen Family Temple . The temple is over 100 years old and was built for a school for the Chen family. The carvings on the temple are so intricate and amazing. Melynda and her daddy stayed at the hotel. The weather is so hot and humid that we thought it was best for her to stay in and get back on her schedule. This evening we attended a group dinner and celebrated one of the little girl’s, Gracie, birthday. All but one of the six little Jiangxi girls will be celebrating her birthday this month. Anna celebrated her birthday in April. We can’t wait to celebrate Melynda’s birthday on Wed. Melynda is such a good baby. She loves to play with her daddy and is letting me hold her for short periods of time before she screams. She loves to ride in her stroller and play on the bed with her toys and her daddy. She talks non-stop and if she thinks that she is being ignored, she will talk really loud to get your attention. We are having a lot of fun with her, but we are tired. She keeps us busy, especially her daddy. We are homesick and can’t wait to see everyone.
