Waiting for Referral
|
After
8 years of marriage, 3 wonderful boys, and a beautiful
home...one can say that life is good...
But in our case , it's GREAT!
But there was one thing missing! Our little girl...
We are Rina and Henry, and our sons are Devon who is 6, Trevor
who is 4
and
Mitchell who is 3.
We are thrilled to have our family and friends follow our
journey in
Bringing Home Myah.
Henry and I, sent our application to Children's Hope
International in
St. Louis to
begin the process on February 2007. We chose CHI not only
because it is
a Christian-based agency with fabulous staff, but also because
we will
be traveling to China with other adoptive parents.
We then began the paper chase to prepare the Dossier, our
application
to China,
requesting a healthy baby girl. This involved 13 agencies
(federal,
state, and
local governments) in 5 states, and 5 months.
We had to have home study visits by a social worker.
Once we were approved we had to compile a lot of documents.
This included getting physical exams by our doctor, preparation
of our
financial statements, birth certificates, employment letters,
police
background checks, Petition for a orphan child with Homeland
Security,
FBI fingerprinting, writing our autobiographies, our philosophy
on
parenting, discipline, values, educational goals for our new
child and much,
much more.
We also wrote a letter to China (CCAA) explaining why we wished
to
adopt from their country.
Every document needs to go back to the Secretary of State and
get an
apostille stamp and get
authenticated. Which is insane!! Because we were born and
married in
different
states. Not to mention we needed background check from every
county we
ever lived in.
UGGH, I lived in NY, NJ, FL and PA....I moved 13 times.
Now that all our documents are compiled it's called a Dossier.
Our dossier was sent to China and will be "logged in" with the
CCAA in
June 2007.
That is our log-in-date, or LID.
Now the waiting begins...We wait for a Referral ( a match to a
child)
to be mailed! We can't
wait to receive our referral packet with information and photos
of our
new
baby. The reality is, it will probably be 14-18months before we
hear
anything.... A very long pregnancy....
Once we receive the referral package ,we will send the paperwork
back
to our agency,
Children‘s Hope International, get our travel arrangements in
order,
we need Visas and vaccines.
Children's Hope International will get our travel approval from
China,
which should take about 6 weeks.
Our stay in China will be 2 weeks. We will keep you up to date
with
photos
and our daily updates through this website.
We are very fortunate to have family and friends support us as
we
venture out
to make our family complete.
We want to thanks our family and friends for their warm and
heart felt
reference letters.
They say it takes a village to raise a child...We have an
incredible
"village"
family and friends that really care and support us.
Thanks for helping us "Bring Myah Home"
Rina and Henry
