We made it to Guangzhou last night at 10:15 pm. The flight from
Detroit to Tokyo went really well. It was supposed to be a full
flight, but we had no one sitting on the aisle of our row so we
were able to spread out some. Amazingly I slept for most of the
flight. Chris, of course, slept most of the way, too. Our
connection in Tokyo to Guangzhou was a little hectic. The flight
was late getting in so we had to run to the gate in Tokyo to
make the flight. Thankfully our luggage made the transition and
we made the flight with only minutes to spare.
Our hotel in Guangzhou for the night was exceptionally nice. The
airport hotel staff met us at the gate and escorted us to the
hotel. The first thing we noticed outside the airport was all
the honking of car horns and yelling. We then realized the
adventure of riding through China was about to begin.
We did manage to get some more sleep in the hotel, but not
before flipping channels on the television. We enjoyed watching
the late night TV commercials and some of the shows.
Right now I am typing this from the airport in Guangzhou as we
wait for our flight to Beijing. Today in Beijing, our guide will
meet us at the airport and we will then have the afternoon to
ourselves. This evening we will meet the other 4 members of our
tour group and will have dinner. Tomorrow is a big day of site
seeing so we need to get plenty of rest tonight.
I think I am still in shock that we are actually in China. It is
a hard feeling to put into words. I’ve waited so long for this
moment, for us to finally travel to meet our son, that now it
seems almost surreal. It’s kind of like I am watching someone
else go through the motions. I am tired and rambling at this
point, but hopefully most of you will understand what I am
trying to say. This is truly an amazing gift…a real privilege
for us to be here in this beautiful country to meet our son. We
are just so happy to be here. Everywhere we go we seem to have a
smile on our faces. In just 4 more days, we will really be
smiling as we meet our son for the first time.

We arrived in Beijing. Once we made it to the hotel, we checked
our email. Our agency sent us an email with 2 new photos of
Oscar and a video. We were really shocked to receive this
incredible gift! We can’t believe how much our boy has grown. He
looks so tall and thin and more like a little boy than a baby.
He is just so amazing and beautiful. I’ll leave you all with the
new photos and the link to the video. That’s what everyone wants
to see, right???
