The Disbros are here!! They came into the hotel last night
around 10:15 pm after a four hour plane ride from Gansu.
They introduced us to little Ty and I have to say that he
is too cute. He has beautiful dimples and a charming
little smile. Alan and Eric are going to love him.
Today we went to a Jade shop. Jade is a stone that is
primarily found in China. Did you know that there is such
a thing as purple Jade? It is beautiful. I bought a purple
Jade pendant with the Chinese character for happiness
inside. I also bought Aleina a beautiful pair of Jade
earrings for a future birthday. The shop was very nice but
had pushy sales people who apparently were “assigned” to
each one of us. We were told that we couldn’t bargain with
these people but we were told by them that if we bought
more, he would give us a better deal. Hmmmmm!
We went to a Chinese restaurant for more Chinese food.
Yeah!! They had dumplings but not American dumplings.
These were filled with pork and chives. We also had sweet
and sour chicken which I actually ate. It was good.
We came back to our room for an afternoon of play time.
Aleina is getting used to not having a nap because
everyone is in our room playing. However, I don’t think
she is getting enough sleep. Today, she is being a bit of
a handful. I’m trying to nicely say that she is not
behaving very well. She hit me today and then tried to
bite me. While doing this she has this little mischievous
grin on her face. I raised my voice and said no and it
seems to work but this is just so unexpected as she has
been wonderful. I guess I have to remember that she is 3
years old. Up until now, she had behaved more like a 4 or
5 year old.
The best part of today was when Aleina kissed me. I put my
lips together to kiss her and she turned to me and laid a
lip lock on me like I have never had. Sorry Shawn I was
in heaven. Jean, our travel partner, tried to get a
picture of it but Aleina was so quick that she couldn’t
snap the picture.
Jason is doing well. He had a bit of a headache today but
is feeling better. The kids are playing very nicely
together and we are waiting for our second round of Pizza
Hut tonight. Oh my, the pizza is good here. Either I am
half starved as I think cardboard would taste better than
Chinese food or else the Pizza Hut pizza is actually
better than in the U.S. I will wait and ask John and Robin
what they think and get back to you.
We went up to the pool today. It is beautiful! It is on
the roof and it is the bluest water I have ever seen.
However, remember Aleina’s aversion to the water? When we
walked in what did Aleina think but that this has to be
the worlds largest bathtub ever. She just stood against
the wall and prayed that her insane mother didn’t make her
get into this tub. I sat on the edge and put my legs in
and after a very long time, she came over and put her feet
in but that was as far as she was going.
So, we have tried Aleina in the tub in various ways. I
have gotten in the tub with her, gotten a small basin and
put it in the tub, put the basin out of the tub and
showered while holding her. None of which has been
successful. Oh she gets clean all right but she ain’t
happy about it. Our travel partners had a large blow up
duck that we are going to try tonight. What do you all
think? Should I put the large duck in the tub, on the
bathroom floor, or in the middle of the hotel room? I need
your help on this one. I am running out of possible bath
time scenarios. She is a pill!
Well, that’s all for now. John and Robin say hello and I
hope you enjoy the pictures. I will write again tomorrow.
Happy Labor Day!
