The Call
We received our long awaited referral call on Friday, December 7, 2007 at around 12:20pm. Patricia from CCAI called and informed us that we have a baby girl. Words cannot begin to describe our excitement and joy.

Name
Gan Xin Jue

The surname is Gan, which is given to all of the babies at Grace's orphanage. Xin means 'new', and Xin Jue means '2 pieces of jade'. Guess we'll have to buy her at least 2 pieces of jade! We haven't decided on a middle name yet since we aren't quite sure how to pronounce Xin Jue.

Born
January 28, 2007

Residing in
The Jianxin Social Welfare Institute, Jiangxi Province in the Peoples Republic of China

Other information
We received a full medical report that was completed on September 24, 2007, showing a very healthy little girl. At that time, Grace weighed 16.5 lbs and was 26 inches long. We expect she'll be about 20 lbs by the time we bring her home.

She wakes up at 7am, takes a 2 hour nap and goes to bed at 8pm each day. She eats 5 times a day, including a 1am feeding! Her diet consists of both a milk based formula as well as a rice based formula as well as 'fish, meat soup, and rice porridge'. Her favorite activity is 'sliding around in the baby walker' and her favorite toy is a rattle. There is no indication that she can crawl yet- we are not sure how much floor time she gets. We are hoping that she is not mobile for a little while- we want her to be dependent on use to carry her so we can get all the snuggling in!

We are already absolutely in love with our baby girl. We anticipate traveling to China in January to bring her home, hopefully before her first birthday! We will update this website as we have more information.
