April 2008
It’s April 1, 2008 and we have been Grace’s parents for 72 days.
It’s hard to imagine life now without her. We are happily
settling into life with a toddler at home. Grace continues to be
a sweetheart, and she brings lots of smiles to our faces
everyday. We have enjoyed seeing Grace’s little personality
grow, and people are amazed when we tell them that we were told
Grace was ‘timid and introverted’. This month, Grace’s
attachment to us clicked. Although she typically will let anyone
hold her, she more recently watches to make sure that we are
nearby- and will even give a little lip pout for us to take her
back. Grace also gives hugs now and tries to make a little
kissing noise.
March was a very busy month for us. Grammy Lowell came to visit
and meet Grace for the first time. We had some great weather and
took Grace to the park for her first time in a swing (which she
loved). We also got her little buggie out and took her for a
little ride in the neighborhood. It’s now become a daily routine
as long as the weather is decent.
Christian had his big annual conference in Nashville again, so
Grace and I tagged along for a week at the Gaylord Opryland
Resort. It was a great little vacation for us. We were able to
spend some time with our good friends Loch & Tina and their 2
boys. Grace had her first swim in the pool at the hotel, and
loved it. She kicked and splashed and didn’t even flinch when I
dunked her completely under the water. Looks like we have a
little fish! Grace also had her first trip to the zoo in
Nashville. Mommy had some excitement too, she was able to go to
the Grand Ole Opry with Tina, and even got to see Carrie
Underwood! After Nashville, we drove to Atlanta for a few days
to visit with family and friends over Easter weekend. Grace was
able to meet some of our great friends as well as her Aunt Kate
and Uncle Christopher. We all ended up with colds, Daddy’s
turned into a 2 week long flu, bronchitis and a sinus infection.
Needless to say, we were all very happy to come home!
Grace has made some amazing developments. It’s hard for us to
remember the first few days with our ‘wet noodle’ that couldn’t
sit up or hold a toy. She is standing confidently, taking a few
assisted steps and still working on the crawling thing. She gets
around really well by just rolling all over the place. She is
almost 30 inches and up to 20 lbs, she gained 3 pounds the first
month we were home! About an hour before I sat down to write
this update, Grace amazed us and actually ate food from a spoon!
It was like all of a sudden, she figured out how to do it, and
happily opened her mouth for each spoonful. Let’s hope it
continues! |
