June 2008
May was a huge development month for Grace. She started to
crawl, and got really fast really quickly! She is pulling up to
a stand and cruising around all of the furniture. She doesn’t
want to be held for very long, and she walks confidently while
holding our hands. We are making progress with eating as well,
Grace has moved on to stage 3 baby food as well as some soft,
mushy regular food. We’re also working on drinking water from a
straw, and transitioning from formula to milk in her bottle. She
babbles all the time, and even appears to sing as she changes
her intonation all the time. It appears that Grace has the
musical gene in the family, and she starts dancing anytime she
hears music. She intently says Dada, Mama (or mostly just MA!
when she wants something) and up. We’re working on animal sounds
and some other simple words. We got a clear ‘apple’ this week.
Grace is continuing to do well at daycare. Everyday, we get
great reports telling us that Grace is such a sweet and happy
child and that she loves playing with and trying to chase after
the other kids. We are so lucky to have found such a great place
for her! We are just finishing up Little Gym and music class,
and we’ll spend some of our free time this summer at the pool.
Grace was lucky enough to have many visitors in May! Both Grammy
Lowell and Grammy Manning came and spent a few overnights alone
with Grace during Christian’s hospital stay and first week at
home. We are so lucky to have a great support group of family,
friends and neighbors who have helped us out tremendously. And
Grace seems to love having the extra people around to play with
her. We have had an extended visit from Uncle Ned, who has acted
as our nurse, playmate, cook, cleaner, babysitter, handyman,
gopher, personal shopper and friend. Thank you Uncle Ned for
helping us out!! We were also lucky enough to have a short visit
from Aunt Susan and Uncle Joe, Eric and his parents, as well as
a weekend with Mommy’s good friend Aimee.
Grace continues to be a very sweet, pleasant and easy baby. We
are so proud to be your parents Gracie Girl!
