Our Family

OUR JOURNEY TO FAITH
Matt and I would like to share this amazing journey that God has taken us on over the past year. In June 2005, we felt God calling us to adopt from China. After much prayer and 2 months, later, God put us in contact with some wonderful Christian friends who gave us the name of a Christian agency out of Florida called Celebrate Children. Their china coordinator Martha works long hours to help families find their babies in China. She has truly been an encourager & blessing to our family.

After receiving the initial paperwork to fill out, Matt & I were looking at the cost of adopting a child from China. I can remember laughing and saying….”Matt did we misunderstand God somewhere?” We both knew how impossible it looked “on paper” to adopt, but were assured by Luke 1:37 “For nothing is impossible with God!”

In October of 2005 we sent in our application along with our first fee of $250.00. When Matt received his pay stub he had gotten a pay increase of $200.00! Isn’t God Amazing! In November, I was frantic, I knew our fees were only about to begin, what were we going to do? Where was the money going to come from? That we did not know, the only thing we did know was that God wanted us to adopt and he would provide for his children. One morning after worrying all night about the money, God spoke to me thru a verse:

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your Love, O Lord , endures forever. Do not abandon the works of your hands.” -Psalm 138: 8

He assured me that He would provide and that He would not abandon what He had placed in our hearts!

Three days before Christmas, sadly, Matt lost his Grandmother who had been really sick for a long time. “Ma-Ma” loved to watch our children, Broughton & McKenna play. I remember one Christmas she didn’t open anything, until the kids were finished opening their gifts. She savored every minute of watching those babies, and she will greatly be missed!

The day after Christmas Matt’s daddy handed us an envelope that was only to be opened after Ma-Ma’s death. (upon her request) Inside the envelope contained 2 CD’s. They were not a penny more or a penny less than what it was going to cost us to go to China and get our baby! God Had Provided! Hallelujah! I cannot explain the feeling that came over us. It was like a brick had been lifted off our chest! It was a wonderful day, one I shall never forget! But, the miracles do not end there. After sharing our testimony in church one Sunday, a wonderful couple came to our house and offered us their frequent flyer miles that they had not used. Guess what? It was more than enough for us to get to China and back! WE are truly Blessed, and forever Grateful! I know that God provides for his children if we would just have faith in what He says He will do.

“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see!” -Hebrews 11:1

Things we do not see! We knew this was a journey of Faith and after a gift given by a secret sister with the letters F A I T H, we knew it was a journey to Faith, which is what we are going to name our China baby! But, the miracles do not end here. God continues to work in each one of our lives, day after day. What does the future hold for my family? I don’t know, but I can’t wait to see it!
