I can hardly believe Tammy has been home for 4 ½ months already.

Tammy is doing great!! She is eating lots of food now and gaining weight enough for the nutritionist at Children’s Hospital to be happy!!

I think Fred our dog has also gained a few pounds since Tammy has come home.

Tammy has a huge funny bone. She makes us laugh all the time…She gets in really hyper, funny moods and bounces around and just cracks her self up. She has the cutest, funniest facial expressions. She winks all the time. She is a super happy girl!! She has a real good arm too. She loves to throw things. Just yesterday she was throwing her green beans to Fred from her high chair and hit me with about 5 of them. I didn’t find the one in my shirt until later though.(eww!!)

Tammy and I went to Chicago to visit my family. She did great on the flight there. We had a great time meeting, visiting and playing with Grammy, Grampy, aunts and uncles. She was having Wiggles withdrawals while we were there but other than that she had a wonderful time.

Now on the way back to Seattle we met a really nice lady named Bonnie. She was so great with Tammy. When it seemed like Tammy was going to be fussy on the plane ride Bonnie sang to her. Tammy loved that very much. She did good on the flight back thanks to our friend Bonnie. We are keeping in touch with Bonnie through email.

Now that reminds me, Tammy had her first celebrity picture at the airport. We like to watch a show called Deadliest Catch on the discovery channel. One of the captains of the crab boats is named Sig. He is captain of the Northwestern. We saw him in the airport when we went to pick James. Sig was trying to blend in, but Tammy and I saw our chance and got a picture with him. He was really nice.

Tammy is making great progress with crawling and taking steps. She has Physical Therapy every Wednesday at our house. She still does the butt scoot but I don’t complain much it helps keep the floors clean!!

Her next surgery to fix her palate and put ear tubes in, is planned for sometime in June, we are waiting for the scheduler to call us on that. The surgeon wants us to keep putting the silicone on Tammy’s scar and massage her scar with vitamin E to help minimize the scar. He said it is a little thicker than he would like to see at this point in the healing process. She is so cooperative through it all….

Tammy has a friend who is also adopted from China who has a cleft lip and palate. They had their first play date and had lots of fun together. They are going to be baptized at the same mass also. May 18th.

Now for the most exciting news ever....

Before we went down to China to pick up Tammy, I signed up on a yahoo group for people adopting in the Shanxi Province . I was trying to find anyone who adopted from Tammy’s orphanage. I never did find anyone. Others from the forum told us it was quite possible we were the first foreigners to adopt from this particular orphanage.

Well a couple of days ago I went on the emails and saw another mom asking if anyone adopted from this orphanage. I contacted the mom and I told her that I have pictures of a lot of the kids that were in the orphanage because we sent down 2 disposable cameras in a care package before we came to pick up Tammy. The mom sent me a picture and I was shocked and amazed to see that she is adopting Tammy’s crib mate. Tammy had a crib mate for her whole life in the orphanage. We believe Tammy was mourning the loss of her crib mate when we had her the first few days and also when we came home. To this day she has to always feel me right next to her when she sleeps at night. She snuggles as close as possible.

So this is such amazing news. We have 18 pictures of this cute little boy that I was able to give his family. The little boy’s mom is so nice and we are keeping in touch. Her son is the closest thing Tammy will have as family from her childhood in China . God really does work miracles!!! I hope someday they will be able to reunite.

Thank you to everyone who continues to follow our updates and offer their kind words in the guest book.

Talk to you all next month.
