We are a quintessentially
sub-urban family – not cool enough to be urban and not
self-sufficient enough to be rural. For example, we know that it
is cooler to prefer eclectic local restaurants, but we prefer
chains and view franchising as the highest form of flattery.
Mike works for P&G designing the next generation of shampoo
technology. (Yes, he is the Hair Care equivalent of Clark
Griswold from Christmas Vacation who designed “non-nutritive
food additives.”)
Anne (hypothetically) stays at home with the children, although
she fits the stereotype of almost never being home. She is
frequently driving our three children and friends to or from
school or activities.
Our other three children are fantastic. For the first two, we
claim it is genetic. For Mia, we are claiming success based on
great parenting.
The best picture of our life as a family is a Friday night after
returning from Steak-n’-Shake. We drink hand-made milkshakes
made by daddy (driven by cheapness more than a desire for
authenticity) and dance to 80s music. We then come together to
pray for our family and friends. We are very excited to have
Will as a member of our praying dance party rather than just a
topic of it. |

Will’s siblings can’t wait for him to come home! He will be
joyfully welcomed by Abby, 9, Mia, 4, and Adam, 6.

As a family, we’ve been praying and waiting
for Will for more
than a year now.
(Yes. He will have to wear a red shirt. All Jutt men do.) |
