Comments: Oh, My! She is absolutely gorgeous! I have not yet read your entire site, but I joyfully viewed each precious picture of sweet Zilya Joy! It brought tears to my eyes to see her with her new family. How lucky she is...how lucky you are! I can't wait for little Mia MeiLi and Zilya to meet each other. God bless you as you continue to bond with your new daughter.

Comments: zilya, If you are reading this it must mean that you are at least old enough to read, maybe older. Maybe its you re thirteenth birthday and you think you know everything. Or maybe you are getting ready to go to college and you KNOW you know everything. Regardless, one thing I am sure, you have figured out by now is that you re uncle matt lacks the steadfast faith of your mom and dad. you see I have a confession to make; while everyone else was writing you letters while you were in Kazakhstan i could not bring myself to do it. I would sit and and scroll through all you re pictures and you re radiant face smiling at me and then I would have to get up and leave the room so no one would see me crying. nobody wants to see a grown man blubber. Zilya, you were so far away and you re mom and dad were working so hard to get you home and I was a coward. I was afraid to let you in my heart. I was afraid that you might not make it home and that if i wrote you this letter and then did not get to hold you and see that serene and self-possessed face of yours and kiss your forehead well i was not so sure i could do that. of course you re grammy boni reminded me on a weekly bases that I should really write something on your website. if you are reading this when you are a teenager I hate to break it to ya, but, moms don't change just because you grow up and move out. Moms will always try and get you to do the right thing. Anyway you are home now and your dad called me the other day and I could hear you gurgling in the background and it occurred to me what a great story you have to start out with. most of us show up in our fa miles in the middle of the night and the details are hazy at best and usually forgotten. but you...you came to us from halfway around the world and you re whole beginning has been written down and you can always look back and know that you re parents love you very, very, most extremely, super, duper, aliooper, alot. not only that but when you are thirteen and you re parents are the biggest dorks you've ever seen, you can smile with that zen-like look of yours and think to yourself, "thank you lord, that I was adopted". man I would have loved that when I was a teenager. Well, you re aunt traci says its time for bed so I better end this letter. And Zilya, whether you are reading this in first grade or junior high or in you re college dorm just remember how precious you are to all of us, including and especially you re doubting Thomas of an uncle. uncle matt

Comments: Hi Zylia, It is Wednesday, January 10th, the day that you will be leaving the land of your birth and flying with your mom and dad to Boise and a whole new world. This day came about 14 hours earlier in Kazakhstan, so you have probably already left. Your grandpa and grandma in Idaho will pick you up at the Boise airport on Thursday night. Your daddy tells me you are happy and sleeping well; the perfect baby. They are so excited to get you home. Moses and Keziah will be glad to finally have you home. It sounds like they are enjoying their time with Grandma Diane and Grandpa Lee, but I know they must miss their own home. What an adventure you all have had, Zylia, and I was very blessed to have been able to share it with you. Love you, Grammy Boni
Comments: Dear Ziyla Joy,
At this point in time, we have only met your family a few times. Yet, we are confidant in their love for you and your brother and sister and their commitment to giving you all wonderful, healthy, and love-filled lives!
Your story of coming into your family is priceless. We wish you nothing less than the Joy of knowing you will always be loved! Thank you for letting us be part of your life, even in such a small way as being able to read about the beginnings of your new life in Idaho, USA.
We can't wait to meet you in person, and hope to one day get to know your family better.
Love, The Kings
Comments: So happy you have her in your "home" I know she will continue to thrive under your care. It looks like she was much loved by her caretakers and I know that is a blessing. Safe travels home very soon with your beautiful girl!

Comments: Hi again, Zilya, I talked to your daddy last night, who is still in Astana. Two days ago the doctor let you leave the "Baby House"' to come live with your mom and dad in their temporary home in Astana. What great joy for all of us! Now they only need to get the court order, then fly to Almaty to get a visa for you from the US Embassy, then they can bring you home to Boise. We are all praying for that day. But I feel bad for the ladies in the nursery. They must have been very sad to see you leave them. I could tell that you were their favorite baby. They called you Aigerim, your Kazakh name. (Your Grandma Diane says that sounds like a Basque name, and we thought there must be connections between those cultures because of the Silk Road). I hope we can find out what it means. The lady changing your diapers in the first pictures loved you especially. I wish I knew her name, but we could not find out because they all only spoke Kazakh and Russian, no English at all. I have other pictures of her that you may want to see. In a couple of weeks you will be leaving the land of your birth. I'm so thankful that I got to see where you were born and spent the first 7 months of your life. There are places in Kazakhstan that remind me of Idaho. I love you, Zilya, and I miss you already. I'm so glad you are my granddaughter. Grammy Boni
Comments: Zilyah Joy, God has blessed you already in your fresh existence. He picked you out of all of the little girls in the world to bless the lives of four of the most wonderful people in the world. You won't realize this for a little while, but your parents, peter and Lynn, will not only love you but will instruct you in the mysterious and joyous ways of the real God. And the first mystery to ponder is that Peter, Lynn, Moses, Kesiah, and Zilyah were chosen to be Family!!! That is seriously wonderful isn't it??? Uncle Sam
Comments: Hi Zilya, I'm sorry Moses and Keziah and I had to leave before we got to see you again. I can't believe they wouldn't let us see you on Christmas Day. Then we had to fly home early the next day. We had a very long flight. First we flew to Frankfort and stayed there for 7 hours. Fortunately, there was a McDonald's with a large play area at the airport. Moses and Keziah ate at McDonald's for the first time in their lives. You know how your mom likes you to eat healthy. I wonder how long it will be before you get to eat at McDonald's. When we finally left Frankfort it took us 10 hours of flying to get to Chicago. We had to wait in Chicago for about 26 hours, so we got a hotel room. Moses and Keziah were excited about watching cartoon that were in English, not Russian. I was excited about the nice comfortable bed. We had to hang around the Chicago airport all day, but there was a wonderful play area for your brother and sister, and they were glad to play with kids they could understand. We finally flew into Boise late that night. Grandpa Lee and Grandma Diane picked us up at the airport and I spent the night there. The next day I kissed your brother and sister goodbye and flew to San Fransisco, then to Honolulu, where your Grandpa Michael picked me up at the airport. Grandpa Michael had to be alone this Christmas, but he said it was well worth it to have such a beautiful granddaughter. He has seen your pictures and I have told him all about you. We both can't wait for you to come home. Love you, Grammy Boni

Brother and sissy look so proud. What a wonderful gift for everyone. We cannot wait to meet you sweet baby Zilya, your 1year old cousin Marley especially. Comments: Zilya! I was just about to go to sleep when something drew me to the computer, now I know what. Daily, I've been on this site to see if I could catch a glimpse of the face that holds a place in my heart. Although I've checked twice today and ooed and awwed with my family here in SLC over the pics of Mo and Ziah, it wasn't until tonight when everyone went to bed and I got on to check one last time.... I saw your smile today and tears instantly came to my cheek. Lovely lady! Joy is so appropriatly your name because of what youve brought!
HURRY HOME! PLLLLLLLEEEEEASE!
Comments: Dear Zilya Joy, Okay, let's try this again. I tried to post a message on November 22nd, but your cousins, Bo and Rio, called me away from the computer and I was unable to finish. Zilya, I can not tell you how excited we are to meet you. They say, " a picture is worth a thousand words", and Zilya, your picture says it all. The moment I saw your face smiling back at me from my computer screen, I knew you where precious and so full of love and joy. You are not only a gift to your parents and your brother Moses and Sister Keziah, but to this entire family. We haven't even met yet, but we love and adore you, your Auntie M. P.S. Your cousin Bo ( age 4 1/2) says, when he sees you, he is going to give you a chocolate heart from LEE'S CANDIES (his favorite place on earth). Then, he is going to give you a kiss. Your cousin Rio (age 3) says, when she sees you, she is going to give you a hug and a kiss, then change your diaper and put you down for a nap. So hurry home, we can't wait to get our hands on you
Comments: Zilya Joy, Your other grandma called me this morning, from Boise, Idaho, to Ewa Beach, Hawaii, to tell me she had seen your picture on this website. When I finally was able to bring up your pictures, both of us, your two grandmothers, cried together in amazement to see what a beautiful granddaughter God has blessed us with. I know that your mom and dad, your brother, Moses, and your sister, Keziah, have all been anxiously waiting, praying for your health, both physical and spiritual. It is obvious from this picture that their prayers, our prayers, were answered. I can't wait to fly to Kazakhstan next week and hold you in my arms. Love you, Grammy Boni
Comments: Peter & Lynn:
We loved looking at the pictures this AM - as I was reading your narrative, Neil and I were both sitting here crying (and Gabriel asking "who's that?"
Zilya is a very fortunate little girl to be adopted by such wonderful parents.

Comments: newest baby glidden,
I am SO out of my mind excited to meet and hold you! (Don't tell your mom this, but when you come back from picking up your parents and siblings we are going to have the biggest party EVER for you!) I can't wait until I get to hold you and sing "Twinkle Twinkle" with you just as I've done with your Moses and Keziah when they were babies. I know already, that you have brought with you something special and necessary to your family. Come swiftly sweet baby girl, and come in peace!
all my love for you! lila...

Comments: My dear new granddaughter, When your daddy called me to tell me that they were flying to Kazakhstan to get you soon, my heart just swelled with love for you. Even though I don't know your name, I don't know what you look like, or even know your birthdate, I loved you before you were formed. I knew you were coming, and loved you. Now that I am making plans to fly around the world to welcome you to our big, crazy family, my love for you is intensified. And so, my little one, I pray that life will be gentle, that all your dreams that hasn't even been dreamed yet will come true, and, most of all, that you will know, without a shadow of doubt, how deeply you are loved by your parents, by your brother and sister, by all your aunties and uncles and cousins, and by me, Your Grammy Boni |
