Jesus said, “Anyone who
welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me. And
anyone who welcomes me welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever
is the least among you is the greatest.”
~Luke 9:48
We began Peyton's adoption process in January of 2007. At
that point we felt God leading us to adopt a child with a
special need. It was soon after that we felt it was going to be
a son. We had no idea what the special need might be. Steve was
calm but I was consumed with knowing what this child's need
would be. I toiled in my thoughts looking for any signs or clues
from God. I knew God had a plan but foolishly wanted to take the
reigns. I love Proverbs 19:21 which says, "Many are the plans in
a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."
Steve and I are humbled by the fact that God knew our children
before we did. They weren't "chosen" by anyone but Him alone.
We received Peyton’s referral call on August 28,
approximately a year earlier than expected. Steve and I quickly
agreed to have his file sent to us for review. It was love at
first sight! Our hearts could not have loved him more. We told
his big sister, Olivia, that her brother had arrived!!! After
seeing his face, she smiled and said, “I like him!”
What we
know:
On January 24, 2006 the Songgang Police Station in
Shenzhen City received a report that an abandoned baby boy
was found at the side of an industrial street near
Songgang People’s Hospital of Bao’an District, Shenzhen
City, Guangdong. A birth date note accompanied him stating
he was born on January 19, 2006. The hospital staff gave
him the name Bao Songbo. Songbo entered the Social Welfare
Center on January 27.
7-8 Months – Crawling
11-12 Months – Walking rapidly in child’s walker
12 Months – Determined to walk on his own
After lunch, “Bobo” as they nicknamed him, would go to his
bed all on his own. He likes others to keep close to him
and hug him. He smiles when he is kissed on the cheek.
He is described as being tenacious, lively, playful, smart
and clever. He loves to be outside in the play yard, and
goes there every afternoon with his little friends. Peyton
is now residing with a foster family. Judging by all of
the outfits, as well as the ice cream cone, we think they
must love him almost as much as we do! |
Olivia wonders, “When will we ever bring my brother home?” Well,
great news! We’re leaving for China on Thursday, February 14 – a
great date for a family who is on a mission of love! |

One ice cream cone plus three wardrobe changes equals one
patient little man!

Peyton is approximately 20 months old here. He is pictured

Ice cream cone is done,
therefore photo shoot is done. |
