Happy New Year! Thank you Father God for the wonders that you
have done and continue to do. Thank you for the glimpses of hope
that take us unaware. As we prepare for our newest child I thank
you God for guiding us and directing our steps. Truly there is
nothing that the LORD cannot do!
Well, I did it again! I feel asleep at approximately 7:30 and
woke up at 1 AM! I suppose my system will stay out of whack for
the remainder of this trip. We had a lovely New Year here in
Beijing the sun came out and it warmed up, for a short while.
Today, we visited a village and had lunch with a “typical”
Beijing family and visited a “typical” Beijing household. I am a
bit perturbed with David because he didn’t take any photos of
these two places…I believe the best way to describe these houses
are to say middle class. Both of the men in these homes have
important positions. Despite those good jobs my house is much
bigger than what we have seen. For reference to those who have
been in my home – three of these ladies kitchen could easily fit
into mine. The hospitality of these families was incredible. And
the food, WOW! We also had a rickshaw ride in the village. Our
guide through the village, Daniel, was great. We also went
shopping today, and went to see the summer palace. Again, it was
very cold. A cool breeze came off the frozen lake and we watched
people walking on the ice. Sam, our tour guide told us he would
not take us onto the ice because it is much too dangerous. Like
he had to hold us back! I couldn’t feel my toes on the granite,
no way was I going to walk on ice! Later on we went to a pearl
factory and learned how to tell the difference between real and
fake pearls. This is our last full day in Beijing and as a
group. The rest will be going to Hunan province, warmer, and we
leave for
Shaanxi , colder.
Can you say SHIVER! That’s okay, we are one day closer to Grace!
Psalm 69:1-3
“Save me, O God!
For the waters have come up to my neck.
I sink in deep mire,
Where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters,
And the flood sweeps over me.
I am weary with my crying out;
My throat is parched.
My eyes grow dim
With waiting for my God.
We are coming sweet daughter.” |

The Lord is SOOO good; we have arrived safely in Xian in the
Shaanxi Province . We arrived around 7 PM at the airport and
then drove about an hour to Xian. This city is much older than
Beijing and the buildings are a bit different. We are staying at
the Bell Tower Hotel it is in a central location close to the
Bell Tower . We will go to see the Terracotta Worriers this
morning and receive Grace tonight! We already have a crib in our
room. Last night we went to the Pizza Hut.
So much to do today – will post later, when we have GRACIE!!!
“In you, O LORD, do I take refuge, let me
never be put to shame! In your righteousness deliver me and
rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me, for you are my
rock and my fortress.” Psalm 71:1 |
