ON THE
MEND, EXIT MEETING AND TRADITIONAL RED COUCH PHOTOS
The only thing on our agenda today was to attend an “exit”
meeting. We were all given the details regarding our departure
days/times. Two families already left this evening. I am the
LAST family to depart. Imagine that. Your departure date comes
after your U.S. Consulate appointment. Our appointment is
tomorrow morning. We then have to wait for Quinn’s U.S. visa to
be allowed to leave.
Before our group began to say good-bye we were able to take red
couch photos! I was so happy to find out that Holt International
purchased a red couch from the White Swan and that the couch was
right here in the China Marriott. Holt had it in their hotel
office! So we all gathered together and it was chaos with all
the little ones crying (even Quinn). Perfect Kodak moment!
Quinn and I took a long needed nap today. I am holding down a
little food and most liquids, but I just feel so weak. Tomorrow
has to be a better day! We just ordered room service for dinner.
I am getting so hungry now. I ordered a turkey club with NO
lettuce and NO tomatoes. I am picking off the bacon too. So,
basically I just ordered a turkey sandwich. I hope that is safe!
Quinn is enjoying a HUGE bowl of chicken congee. He also ate all
my bacon. Wow – I found a familiar food he will eat. He will not
touch a french fry yet….and NO ketchup!
I shouldn’t be laughing right now, but I just had to rescue
Quinn. He was eating and leaned over a little too far and fell
off his seat. It was all in slow motion and I know he did not
hurt himself in anyway. However, Quinn has learned to cry to get
attention. If he sees a baby cry – he will cry. I am sure crying
got him nowhere in the orphanage so we will let him enjoy the
comfort of love and reassurance. Who could resist those dimples
anyways?
We took our final trip back to the island. This wiped me out. I
almost can’t stand going outside here. The humidity is brutal. I
personally do not enjoy be soaked from sweating. Even Quinn is
sweating – his hair is drenched. I “hope” I have all our
shopping done. I do not want to take a taxi back to the island
anymore. It just isn’t convenient.
Tomorrow we are leaving the hotel at 8:00am for our U.S.
Consulate appointment. This is our FINAL step in our adoption
journey to Quinn. He is already ours in the eyes of the Chinese
government and tomorrow he will be ours in the eyes of the
United States. The end is near….
