WE ARE HOME!
We made it home after flying countless hours, a bloody nose
(Quinn) and a lost piece of luggage. It was wonderful to see our
loved one’s waiting for us with such excitement. No words can
express my gratitude for each and everyone of you! You are all
so very special to our family and having you all there to
welcome us home and meet Quinn for the very 1st time was truly
an emotional moment for me. We never dreamed of traveling back
to China for another Asian treasure, but we are so blessed that
we were led back to bring home our little man and we thank you
all for opening your hearts with such excitement to love Quinn
with open arms.
Flying home with Quinn was like a long dragged out labor. Now
that it is over I can say it wasn’t that bad. However, it was
bad when it was actually happening. Quinn slept a total of 4
hours on the long flight from Hong Kong to NYC. That is it! He
played with his TV remote the entire time instead of sitting and
watching one program. He often ended up on screens where he
didn’t belong! He didn’t want to sit or wear his seatbelt and he
was SO LOUD! He would yell for any stewardess that would walk
by. I know he was very comfortable with them because they spoke
his language.
We did make it to JFK-NYC and Quinn became an American citizen!
We had a 5 hour layover, but we were in great company. I have
had an online friend for many, many months that I FINALLY got to
meet. Thank you Julie and PingPing for a MUCH needed break and a
relaxing lunch! We hope to see you soon.
Our short little flight (last flight) was the “real” awful one!
By this point Quinn was exhausted. I couldn’t get him to wear
his seatbelt for take-off at all. He was screaming bloody murder
and I could hear the lady behind me complaining. Really – have a
heart lady – what would she like me to do? She could obviously
she this kid was completely stressed out and yelling in CHINESE!
Wouldn’t that be a HUGE hint that he had no idea what the heck
was going on! UGH – some people really make me shake my head. Oh
well, I was wearing out now at this point and thought to myself
– too bad to her. She will just have to get off her high horse
for the next hour. She will live. LOL
We FINALLY landed and what a happy moment! Holy sweetness! We
had a welcoming crew waiting for us and Quinn was all smiles. He
did very well as long as I wasn’t out of sight. After we all
hugged and took pictures we went to baggage claim to discover I
was missing a bag. JetBlue told me one of my bags took a ride to
Vermont! I had to wait until the following day to get my bag. I
couldn’t believe it – all that traveling and I lost a bag on the
shortest flight – 1 hour from home. The good news is I did
receive my bag and a voucher for my next flight on JetBlue.
Overall, Quinn is doing well at home. He was not having any part
of the dogs the 1st night. By the 2nd night he is tolerating
them. He loves is siblings and can become very WILD and CRAZY
with their coaxing. Quinn really doesn’t need any coaxing so
this creates complete chaos! We took Quinn for his 1st haircut
today. He is one handsome little dude. He loved looking at
himself in the mirror – no surprise there. Then we went for a
REAL American Chinese lunch – General Tso. Quinn went to town on
that. He has really opened up and is trying many new foods. He
does like sweets too. He must have been just so shutdown in
China when he spit out the M&M I gave him. He loves M&Ms now.
Many people have asked how Savannah is handling sharing her
throne with Quinn. She is doing very well! We have our moments,
but she has been amazing. She is such a big girl now even though
she is the younger one. She is our helper with Quinn teaching
him everything she knows. Here are some of the things she has
said over the last couple of days:
He is talkin “China” again…
You not beautiful – I am beautiful!
I not Savannah – I Mei Mei
I not little sister – I am BIG
I don’t like this boy….(after being hit my Quinn)
I really like JoeJoe….(eating dinner together)
Quinn waits on Savannah hand over foot. He caters to her. Darryl
and I were cracking up today. He gives her many hugs and kisses,
puts her shoes on for her, makes sure she has her cup of milk,
helps her out of the van and holds her hand as they walk to the
house from the van. AND of course, she lets him!
Quinn will take his 1st camping trip this weekend. I know I will
be one tired Mama chasing this boy around, but oh how he makes
my heart melt. Welcome to the family Quinn JoeJoe!

children come from God, for some the journey home just takes a
little longer." ~Author Unknown
We witness a
miracle every time a child enters into life. But those who
make their journey home across time & miles, growing
within the hearts of those who wait to love them, are
carried on the wings of destiny and placed among us by
God's very own hands.

You
Are My Child
by Shawna Fox
Sometimes I sit and wonder how it's going
to be.
When I can call your name, and you look up at me.
I don't try to understand why you've been left alone.
But I pray and count the hours 'til I come and bring you home.
I wasn't there when you were born; I didn't see you start to
crawl.
I couldn't watch your first few steps, or pick you up from your
first fall.
I may not be the one who saw your first sweet smile.
I wasn't there in the beginning; but from now on, you are my
child!
Every night I touch your picture before I can go to bed
So that images of you will be dancing in my head.
And although we've never met you, and we've never held you
close,
We're so blessed to be your parents; and we thank God we're who
He chose.
I reach for your tiny hands, but you're a million miles away.
And I know I love you more with each slowly passing day.
From the moment you entered our lives, you became a vital part.
You may not have my eyes, but you will always have my heart.
