EIGHT MONTHS HOME
We began January with a birthday celebration. Savannah turned 5!
I can hardly believe it or perhaps I just choose not to believe
it. Our baby girl is growing up too fast. Then if that wasn’t
hard enough for this Mama to swallow she goes and loses her 1st
tooth! So, we are now the parents of two 5 year olds who are
both missing one tooth each!
Quinn has made a lot of progress this month. We were able try a
couple “new” adventures. We took Quinn to his 1st movie. Hunter
picked the movie – Wreck It Ralph. Travis and Hunter liked the
movie, but I do not think Quinn and Savannah had a great
interest in this one. However, we all had a wonderful time at
the theatre and our experience with Quinn at the movies was
positive. I just really never know how things will turn out when
we try something new with Quinn. We will definitely be going to
our 2nd movie very soon.
Hunter and Quinn’s school sponsored a night of fun and games. We
attended Winterfest 2013 and Quinn showed us just how much he
has grown over the last eight months. It was a crazy – wild
night filled with bounce houses, photo booth, an awesome clown,
airbrush tattoos, WII dancing, cotton candy, popcorn……you all
get the idea! High energy mixed with sugar! Nana went with us
and we had a memorable evening.
Quinn continues to be extremely neat and tidy. He can make a bed
like no other. He makes it soooo tight that he can’t even get
into it. There must not be a wrinkle in the sheets or blanket.
He even tucks his dust ruffle into the mattress. He is the same
way with his clothes. He buttons everything up to his neck,
tucks in his shirts and hikes up his pants to his armpits. It is
a site to see. I will have to get a good picture. He will for
sure laugh in years to come. Quinn is also obsessed with
brushing his teeth and having his hair in place.
Mickey Mouse is still #1 (other than Mama) in Quinn’s eyes.
Quinn has a large stuffed Mickey that goes everywhere with us.
Mickey is a part of our family. When Quinn names everyone in his
family he includes Mickey – every time.
Now that the NHL lockout is OVER – Quinn is learning the game of
hockey! He plays mini-hockey daily with the men of our house and
has learned to yell – SCORES! He will play until his head is
soaked with sweat. Quinn is one tough little guy as his
opponents have no mercy on him!
We are looking forward to February with the celebration of the
Chinese New Year. It will be the year of the snake and Darryl is
a snake along with Quinn’s cousin, Zachary. We also look forward
to celebrating Quinn’s 1st Valentine’s Day with us. We hope to
try a couple new 1st with Quinn as well – bowling, ice skating,
sledding???
