TEN MONTHS HOME
Boy did I fall behind in updates, but at least it is for good
reasons. March was a fun, fun month for us. We celebrated St.
Patrick’s Day, Easter and Hunter’s birthday. We even snuck in a
trip to Florida with Nana and Papa! Many, many 1st for Quinn.
Most of March we anticipated our trip to Florida. I had 2nd
thoughts A LOT about traveling alone with our 3 youngest.
Honestly, I had 2nd thoughts A LOT about traveling alone with
Quinn. However, Hunter told me we could do this. Hunter is such
a BIG helper with our 2 little ones. He did an amazing job,
especially through the airports, as we both needed eyes in the
backs of our heads. Quinn and Savannah are both so fast and they
never go in the same direction!
We had a wonderful week at the ocean with Nana and Papa. Quinn
experienced sand in his toes for the 1st time. It was priceless.
He did not like it at first. He also didn’t like salt water in
his mouth. Savannah dove right in. They are like day and night.
We all enjoyed our morning walks along the ocean looking for sea
shells. We have tons! Savannah even found a bone – from a
dolphin or whale? Thank you Nana and Papa for a week full of
wonderful memories! We can’t wait to go back next year.
Quinn learned he is not only Chinese, but Irish. We celebrated
St. Patrick’s Day in style thanks to Aunt Tracy and family. The
kids were decked out in green and had all the accessories. Quinn
loves a good party and he has learned that his family is always
celebrating – celebrating everything we can in life.
Hunter’s birthday fell on Easter Sunday this year. He was
actually born on Easter 11 years ago. Since Nana and Papa were
still in Florida we had a quiet Easter dinner at home. We had
our annual Easter egg hunt and family dinner in April. More on
that in next month’s post.
Quinn had no fear of the Easter Bunny. He was very excited to
see him at the mall and of course have his picture taken.
However, Quinn and Savannah didn’t cooperate at all for the
picture lady! I kept telling the lady to retake the picture.
Poor Hunter was dyin of embarrassment. I lost count of the
number of retakes. Hey – for $30 I wanted a “decent” picture. I
wasn’t expecting perfect, but we were not even close. I finally
had to settle on one cuz I was holding up the bunny line. When
we walked away the Easter Bunny had his hands on his head and he
was shaking his head back-n-forth. Are you kidding me?! :)
Quinn enjoyed coloring eggs, but he was really surprised when
his egg cracked when he dropped it on the floor. He was NOT
happy. Hard boiled eggs are now one of his favorite foods.
We are still adding to our list of broken items – complimentary
of Quinn. This month we added Hunter’s glasses and Savannah’s
table and chairs. The table and chairs were fixable, but the
glasses were beyond repair.
We are continuously blessed to be the ones to witness and share
a new life with Quinn. Although our journey with Quinn hasn’t
been all peaches and cream we are very grateful to be the ones
he calls his family.
Family is not an important thing. It's everything. ~Michael J.
