ELEVEM MONTHS HOME

Something miraculous happened this month. Quinn’s heart has healed enough to let his Daddy “whole-heartedly” in. He has learned true love of a family and has gained the ability to truly trust. Mama has been his whole world for the past year and Quinn wouldn’t allow anyone else in. No one could get close to Quinn because he just wanted his Mama. He was going to make sure I was not going to go anywhere without him.

Well this month something totally changed. Daddy is the MAN! It is a beautiful relationship to watch grow. Not only was this Mama getting very drained and totally worn out, but Daddy was really feeling helpless. AND poor Quinn – it’s hard to put into words what our little guy has been through. We understand his grief and fears, but it has been so difficult to watch him struggle each and every day. The great news is that Quinn is healing and his heart is so capable of love.

Not only did Quinn let Daddy into his heart this month, but we witnessed him opening up to other family members as well. He has grown very fond of his Nana and Aunt Laurie. They both have been so loving, understanding and patient with Quinn from the moment he came home. They have given him all the space he needed, but never gave up on showing him true love. Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for loving our little man so much and showing him how much LOVE is around him.

We celebrated Easter a few weeks late as we waited for Nana and Papa to return from Florida. We had our annual “Nana” Easter Egg Hunt and a wonderful Easter dinner. Each year one of the grandkids gets to be Peter Cottontail and this year it was Hunter. We figured that was fitting since his birthday was on Easter. Quinn and Savannah thought Hunter was a riot dressed up as the Easter Bunny!

Camping is now in full swing and it is one of Quinn’s favorite things to do. He loves to go camping. Quinn loves to be outside and what a perfect place for Quinn to run – run – run. His other favorite past time is eating ice cream and a daily visit to the camp store keeps him very happy. I think he enjoys ice cream more than food. Hmmm – sounds like his Mama.

Quinn still loves “Mickey” more than life. Mickey is part of our family and he does everything we do and goes everywhere we go. However, Superman has become very popular. Quinn says he has super powers like Superman! It is really nice to have someone “new” in our home.

It is hard to believe that next month we will be celebrating Quinn’s 1 year Gotcha Day. It has been a long tough road, but so worth every step of the way. He has been an amazing blessing to our family and we know he was chosen perfectly for us.
