THREE MONTHS HOME
Month three brings an end to our 1st summer with Quinn. We
shared in many summer firsts with Quinn this past month:
- 1st pony ride
- 1st visit to a petty zoo
- 1st trip to our County Fair
- 1st family reunion
- Celebrated Halloween at camp
- Registered for Kindergarten
Every day is still a “new” first for Quinn and an adventure for
all of us. We just never know what to expect. Quinn is a happy –
silly little guy who is also one big bundle of wildness! He will
sit for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and that is about it. He is still
obsessed with Mickey and would watch it 24/7 if we allowed it.
We are all losing our love for the famous mouse. How could that
be possible?
We celebrated Halloween at camp and it only made sense for Quinn
and Savannah to be Mickey and Minnie. Quinn could hardly stand
it. He was so excited for his costume. He had no idea what was
going on when we started trick-or-treating around the
campground, but he quickly caught on. This was a nice warm up
for the real Halloween in a couple months.
Quinn has the most beautiful smile. I know I am his Mama, but he
could melt anyone’s heart. When we returned home from China one
of his front teeth turned gray. I was so upset, but it is what
it is. Now, this past weekend, his other front tooth became
loose. The worse part – we have no idea what he did. I know that
sounds terrible, but he is constantly walking into things or
falling every day. Nothing out of the ordinary happened so we
are at a loss to what he did. I took him to the dentist and was
told he is going to lose that tooth and his gray tooth is dead.
So, he will soon have NO front teeth! UGH – his beautiful smile
will be toothless. His adult teeth are not expected for another
2 years. I know it could be worse, but his little baby teeth are
(were) so perfect.
Quinn is all ready for kindergarten. I will be given his teacher
assignment tomorrow. He is very excited to be going to school
with Hunter. Savannah has one more year of preschool. Travis
will be a SENIOR. Where does the time go? It seems like
yesterday that I was graduating from high school. I really am
that young!
Overall, we had a very low-key summer. It has been the least
active summer for us. Quinn is just not up to traveling yet. We
continue to take it one day at a time. Quinn will receive ESL
services soon and we think this will be a tremendous help. We
are all struggling in the language department with Quinn. He has
picked up a lot of English, but he still speaks a lot of
Chinese. He has found great comfort in his Mei-Mei (little
sister), Savannah. She is his world.
