FIVE MONTHS HOME
Living and enjoying life. One day at a time. ~Author Unknown
WOW – what a fun-filled month we had with Quinn. Although we are
still taking things at a much slower pace than we are all use to
we were able to enjoy many activities and outings. We attended a
fall festival which included many firsts for Quinn. He enjoyed a
hayride to a pumpkin patch where he picked out his very 1st
pumpkin! All the kiddos enjoyed getting their faces painted,
playing carnival games, making crafts and eating lots of
goodies.
Savannah’s 2nd Gotcha Day was on October 11. We celebrated with
a Chinese dinner and a balloon launch at Nana and Papa’s. As we
were getting ready to leave the party Quinn began to cry and he
was holding his mouth. I just knew it was “that” tooth that he
banged up in the summer. It has been loose for two months. Well,
it was now hanging! With a little help from Mama and Nana, Quinn
was sporting a brand new Jack-O-Lantern SMILE – just in time for
Halloween! That night the tooth fairy made a stop to our house.
She only left $1.00 as she knew Quinn wouldn’t understand why
there was money under his pillow in the morning. Quinn wasn’t
impressed at all with the money. He handed it right over to
Mama. He didn’t know what to do with it. Savannah on the other
hand knew exactly what to do with the money and spent the entire
morning pouting. She couldn’t understand why she was not big yet
and how come her teeth were not falling out like Quinn’s. She
wanted a dollar like Quinn. This went on and on all morning. I
actually “caught” her trying to PULL her teeth out! Dear Lord –
never a dull moment here.
Emotions were sky high this month as we welcomed home “our”
Shane boy from the US Navy. Shane recently completed boot camp
and graduated 1st in his class from A-School. As you all can
probably tell from the picture I posted it was very, very late
when Shane arrived. We wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
Quinn slept through most of Shane’s arrival and this picture is
the only one I got with his eyes semi-open. Savannah is our
night owl! Shane was only home for 12 days and we all had to say
our good-byes once again. He will now begin the next part of his
exciting journey in Japan! We miss him terribly, but we know he
has a job to do and we couldn’t be more proud of him!
Since Shane was home for only a short time we tried to “cram” in
as much family fun as possible. We celebrated 3 birthdays
(Shane, Travis and Joshua) with a family Halloween party.
Everyone dressed up and can you all guess what Quinn was?! Yep –
MICKEY! He is still crazy about that mouse. Quinn enjoyed all
the party fun especially pin the nose on the witch and the
Halloween piñata.
Quinn had two Halloween parties at school and a parade. He
thoroughly enjoyed trick or treating and literally ran from
house to house yelling “trick or treat” on the top of his lungs.
He really isn’t eating much of his candy, but he is guarding his
pumpkin with all his life.
Quinn is doing very well in school. He is picking up English
quickly and LOVES homework. He creates homework for himself
every night. He will practice his writing for long periods of
time. This is very impressive for our little energizer bunny. He
is also trying very hard to read. He is absolutely hysterical
when he imitates his teacher. Quinn pretends he is his teacher
and wants (demands) Savannah to listen to him. Savannah is not
always (most of the time) cooperative which creates a hostile
classroom here.
All and all we have had a very good month. As my father-in-law
would say……take it slow and easy.
