SEVEN MONTHS HOME

We had a wonderful month preparing and celebrating Quinn’s 1st Christmas HOME! Although he didn’t understand the meaning of Christmas this year or the concept of Santa he really did enjoy everything about the season. His smile was contagious and through all the hustle and bustle he thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the magic! I am happy to report that we survived December! In all honesty, I had my doubts. Christmas is such a special time and we really worried it would be overload for Quinn with all the decorations, traditions, family outings, etc…. However, Quinn seemed to really enjoy all the family time along with his school vacation!

We started the month off with a holiday party at Savannah’s daycare. Santa came for a visit and our two little’s were soooo excited to tell him how good they have been and what they dreamed to find under our tree come Christmas morning! LOL Quinn asked for “anything” Mickey and Savannah asked for a Little People Princess Castle. We continued the month with many more holiday parties and lots of holiday baking! Quinn is not a sweet eater like his sister. He likes his Mickey cookies from Nana though. He does NOT want to share those. Those are his prized possessions.

One evening we packed up the kiddos and drove to a nearby park to see their light display. Quinn had no clue where we were going as we usually do not go anywhere in the evenings once we are settled in after dinner. That is just our routine. It took some explaining to get him to cooperate and behave in the van and to leave his sister alone! Once we got to the park and he could “see” all the beautiful lights he was SO excited that he could hardly remain seated in his booster seat. It warmed our hearts to see Quinn so happy and to be with us this holiday season.

We have gotten LOTS of snow this month too. Quinn got his 1st pair of snow pants for Christmas. We hope to take him sledding very soon. Quinn will be wearing a helmet! He is a dare devil and he has absolutely no fear and I know he will want to go with the big boys! Savannah will remain on the bunny hill as she does not like to walk back up the hill and she is getting way too heavy for anyone to carry her back up! I know she will end up in the lodge with her hot cocoa! LOL

So, what time do you think we were all up on Christmas morning? Quinn is not a sleeper, but since 12/20 he has been sleeping through the night! Thank you Jesus! 12/20 was the 1st full night of sleep I have had since May! Well, at 5:30 we had Quinn in our room and he appeared to be in a coma! Darryl knows “someone” woke him up and sent him in to us. Who would do that? TRAVIS!!! Our oldest one – 17 years old and so excited he couldn’t sleep! He woke up everyone and sent Quinn into our room to get things rolling. Travis never woke up that early when he was little. So, up we were – all in comas!

Quinn was a machine opening his gifts. For his birthday (back in July) he cried when we gave him a gift. He had no idea what to do with a gift. He knows what to do now. However, all he wants to do now is open – open. He didn’t even look at what he was receiving. He just piled his gifts up and asked for more. It reminded me of the boys when they were toddlers. Quinn really enjoyed his gifts the day after Christmas once all the excitement was over and he could enjoy his new MICKEY toys! He also really loved his new Lego set.

We stayed home for New Year’s this year. Quinn did not make it to midnight, but he was sure to tell everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR! We celebrated with ice cream sundaes – Quinn’s favorite food and pizza! Nothing grand, but our kids were happy and that is all that matters!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our home to yours! We wish all of you a very blessed, healthy and Happy New Year! We look forward to 2013 and all the surprises it has in store for our family!
