A Prayer for my two boys, Dan and me “Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down you will not be afraid, when you lie down your sleep will be sweet.” ~Proverbs 4: 23-24 OUR ITINERARY Friday, February 19 Arrive in Beijing after 20 total hours of flying! Saturday, February 20 Tour of Great Wall and Ming tombs (or sleep!) Sunday, February 21 Travel from Beijing to Sammy’s province of Henan with a group of 8 other parents and some children, also adopting from the province of Henan. There are a couple of kids CJ’s age, age 6 and 10. (girls, much to CJ’s chagrin!) He will love it! Monday, February 22 The Day We’ve Been Waiting For!!! GOTCHA DAY. Eight families take a bus to a government office and one-by-one, we receive our children, with no adieu. Each child is from a different orphanage within Henan, and a nanny or orphanage director has brought them to the capital city of Henan, Zhenzhou. Hopefully get to talk to the caretaker to find out a little more about our child. Then we climb back on a bus with 8 freaked out children! Too funny! Back to the hotel for CJ, Dan & Mona to begin getting to know our newest family member. Tuesday, February 23 a.m. -- go to the Registration office to complete Samuel’s adoption registration procedure. Rest or group shopping (yek!) in the afternoon. Wednesday – Thursday, February 24 – 25 Free time for our new family of 4! We hope to travel to Sanmenxia, a two hour ride, to visit Sammy’s orphanage. We won’t know for sure until there whether we will be able to do this. Friday, February 26 Pick up Sammy’s passport. Travel from Henan to Guangzhou, where the rest of our trip will be spent finalizing our adoption with the U.S. Consulate. Saturday, February 27 Sammy’s visa picture taken and medical exam. Hopefully not too many shots! Sunday, February 28 Free time to rest, tour, shop. Sammy, Mona & CJ rest, Dan shop. Monday, March 1 Free time to rest, tour, shop Tuesday, March 2 Submit Sammy’s visa application documents to the U.S. Consulate Wednesday, March 3 Group oath at the U.S. Consulate Thursday, March 4 Receive Sammy’s visa Friday, March 5 Last day in Guangzhou doing ??? Saturday, March 6 Arrive home on United #967 arriving at 7:18 p.m.
