HOME AT LAST!!
What a thrill to finally be here. I am not sure if “thrill” even
captures the tremendous feeling it is to finally walk off that
last flight and into the embraces of those you love at the
airport. To finally wrap my arms around each one of my kids was
pure joy. Jacob, Jon, Sam and Mandi each took a turn saying
hello to their new sister. I had put Sarah in the Ergo coming
off of the plane so that she was still securely against me and I
could still hug and greet our family and dear friends. Sarah did
very well. She looked around and then would close her eyes for a
moment and then reopen them as if to say, “OK, I guess you’re
still here” and then she would lay her head on my chest. But,
she didn’t cry and she stayed safe in mama’s arms.
The return to our home, our beautiful, comfortable and lively
home, was heaven on earth. To see Sarah begin to light up and
appear comfortable almost from the word ‘go’ was satisfying as
well. A special thank you to our sweet friends, the Cooley’s and
the McGerty’s, for the well stocked supply of Diet Pepsi and ice
upon our return. :) Someone knew just what we needed…..well,
besides needing our family.
Sarah has her first evaluation by her pediatric cardiologist on
Monday, the 17th of September. We are very anxious to get her
checked out and figure out how we are going to proceed in
regards to her surgery and cares. She will also see her regular
pediatrician for the first time that day as well. We are
thankful to be in a position to know such compassionate and
competent doctors to care for our little treasure. We have every
faith and trust in them to help her.
So, before we close this time we wish to thank some people.
Thank you to the Burton family for their sacrifice and kindness
in taking such good care of our children in our absence. You
will never fully understand how grateful we are. Thank you to
the Rutter family for spending Labor Day weekend with the kids
and reminding them that family was never really far away. Thank
you to my mom for providing meals for the whole clan while we
were away and for always loving her grandkids. Thank you
to the Thomas family for making meals, watching kids, making
welcome signs and for the most delicious welcome home cake in
the world. Thank you to the Ashton family for allowing their son
to accompany us on this lifetime adventure. He was a joy to have
with us and it will be memories we will always treasure. Thank
you to the Cooley’s, the Mills’, the Jones’, the McGerty’s, the
Giauque’s and all of the other wonderful people that we have the
privilege of calling our friends. Your examples and expressions
of kindness daily strengthen our desire to be better people.
Thank you to Brian’s extended family, especially his sweet mom,
for supporting us on this journey and for daily reminding us of
their love and concern for our family. And we would be remiss if
we did not publicly thank Joe and Jennifer of Myadoptionwebsite
for their tremendous work on our behalf in enabling us to update
all of you and to feel connected to the world that, at times,
seemed so very far away. And if we have forgotten anyone by
name, please do not ever feel that you have been forgotten by
us. You are loved and we are grateful! We also thank each of you
who have followed our journey. The goodness of people never
ceases to amaze us. We will update when we know more about the
plans for Sarah and her surgery and to let you know how our
little treasure is progressing.
Until then……………… |
