10, 2008 (Update #1)
It is 8:55am and we are here at the hospital. We are awaiting
the official word that Sarah’s surgery has begun. We had all
done really well all morning. Sarah cried a few times during the
pre-op check-in but, us adults had all stayed tear free. Sarah
had spent most of the time snuggled in mama’s arms. At 7:44am
they took her from my arms and into the operating room. They
allowed me to carry her (with Brian and grandma following
behind) down the long hallway to the operating room doors. I
felt a little like I was being led to walk the plank. And then,
with the moment upon us that I had envisioned in my head at
least a dozen times, I bawled. Brian cried. Grandma cried. And
then the anesthesiologist took her gently from me and Sarah
whimpered too. We all stood there watching her go into the O.R..
And then she disappeared out of sight.
The anesthesiologist is a gem. The resident anesthesiologist is
delightful too. Our nurses have all been kind and gentle so far.
We know she is in excellent hands. We are praying and trying to
stay distracted. And still we fret. We sit. We wait. It hasn’t
started yet and it feels as if HOURS have already gone by. Oh
dear……..
Please continue to pray and hope for our little angel. We love
you Sarah!!!!!
More later…………………………
UPDATE: We were paged while I was writing this. They are to open
Sarah’s chest in about 10 minutes (it is now 9:08am PST). She
went off to sleep very easily and all her lines have been placed
with relative ease. She has a total of four. We are feeling very
nervous now as it is only moments away…………. |

This special soap my mama had to use for me is kinda yucky

I love Grandma |

Are you people serious? Didn't I just do this yesterday?

Just before we head to pre-op (7am on 01-10-08)

Snuggling in pre-op
Just as the anesthesiologist takes her to go to the O.R.
