January 10, 2008 (Updates #2 & #3)

UPDATE #2
It is 11:05am and we were just called from the OR again. Sarah is currently on heart-lung bypass as they enter the inside of the heart to remove the membrane that is partially occluding the mitral valve . They said she is doing very well and that everything is going as was planned. They will update us again in 2 hours or sooner if they begin closing sooner. We are just in awe that our daughter is being assisted by a machine that is doing the work of her heart and lungs right now. We are praying that her surgeons hands are being guided.

UPDATE #3
It is 7:10 pm and about 1 ˝ hours ago we were finally allowed into see our little girl. She is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and she is doing OK. They had to reinsert her breathing tube and she will be sedated through the night. She has three chest tubes and all her lines in place. The surgeon came out to us after it was over and told us that it went ‘Great’ and was actually the best case scenario for her that they could have hoped for. Heavenly Father certainly heard the prayers of many! We are so very thankful. She has had a bit of a rocky start to healing but, we are hopeful that with time and some rest that she will be strong. The last couple hours of the wait were excruciating for all of us and when we finally entered her room, we all shed tears. I know she is going to be OK, I know it just LOOKS scary but darn it if it isn’t terrifying and heartbreaking to she your baby girl being supported by so many tubes and lines and medicines and monitors. The miracle of medicine and our Father in Heaven who guides the hands of these men and women who train themselves to be in a position to help OUR daughter…and others just like her!!!! Sarah, your mom and dad would have traded places with you today in a moment! You are a fighter and a beautiful daughter and we have such faith in you. Angels truly ARE holding you until we can………….

Until tomorrow………..
