January 11, 2008

The day is finally drawing to a close. The days seem to crawl in the hospital. You wait and watch and wait and watch. Hoping each moment that it will be the moment that everything will be right again. Brian had to fly home this afternoon. He left only hours ago and I already I miss him terribly. He went back to be with our other children that were left behind in Boise. He called me when he landed and he is safe on the ground.

Sarah has done pretty good today. The tube was finally removed around 3pm PST this afternoon. Oh that was awful. I’ve seen it before but, when it is your child it is so different. Partially easier because you understand the process but awful because you understand the process :) She has some thick secretions that have had to be suctioned out and she is still way groggy from the sedation meds wearing off, but she is on the road to progress. Her sats are in the NINETIES right now with just a wee bit of oxygen. The nineties!!!!!!!!!! Her toes are pink and so are her fingertips. Her lips are bright red (though dry from the vent tube). She is having a rather difficult time waking up and seems thoroughly wiped out. We have spent the day talking to her, touching her and stroking her hair. She would startle and try to sit up and we would try to lean over and hold her. They tell me that I get to hold her before I go to bed tonight. I am hopeful!!!

I am posting a few pictures of Sarah from the last 24 hours. I had debated but, in the end feel led to put a few up. As always, we are thankful for the support you all so freely offer. What a gift!!!

With love and goodnight,

Anna

Until tomorrow………………………………
