In China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

We started out our day today rested and ready to explore the area around our hotel. But, before we set out, we did our first Skype call to “Camp H!” Ruby did great, and it was wonderful to see her and talk with her! Liz has been blessing us with updates daily of our precious girl! She is clearly having a wonderful time with her favorite second family! We are so thankful that we can be here enjoying our time in China, knowing that Ruby is doing so well!

Martyr Park is about five blocks from our hotel, and we spent our entire morning there. It was wonderful to see how some of the locals spend their Saturdays. We saw people practicing their Tai Chi, dancing, kite flying, reading newspapers, doing calligraphy on the sidewalks, playing an instrument or just strolling with their families. There were precious children everywhere. We loved it! I could have stayed there all day taking pictures, and soaking in this part of China. The park is beautifully decorated right now for Chinese New Year. Hundreds of red lanterns and red and gold umbrellas line the walkways and light posts. In fact, everywhere we go right now you can see red lanterns. Even in the alleyways.

The part of Changsha that we are staying in reminds us of New York City. It is a major city with very few tourists. It is crazy watching the cars, mopeds, bikes, and pedestrians getting to their destinations. We are clearly the foreigners here. We all got a great deal of attention today, especially Ainsley! She attracted many smiles, and a few invites for pictures. Jeff too was a hit with the local girls. Too funny! I was in my element taking pictures of life here. It was hard to choose what to post.

We are thrilled with our hotel choice, and impressed with the service. The staff has been so friendly, and helpful. The chefs in both restaurants have adopted us, so we are in good hands when Sienna arrives! Very few people speak English, so we are doing a lot of smiling, and sign language already. A little foreshadowing for Monday! Speaking of that precious girl, we are now less than 48 hours away from having her with us! At lunch we asked Ainsley if she was nervous at all? She said, “no” just excited! I think the Mom & Dad are a little of both! We are half way around the world anticipating the arrival of our third daughter! And trusting that God will equip us for our very special day! One more post until you see her beautiful face!

Thank you for your prayers and messages!

Blessings,
Diana, Jeff & Ainsley
