We grew up in Kansas City, and
were married in 1986. At the time, Brian had just signed papers
to join the US Navy and was commissioned as an Ensign. We
started our Navy adventure in San Diego. In 1990, Kyle was born
and Alex followed in 1993, just as we were receiving orders to
transfer to Virginia Beach, VA. The boys spent much of their
formative years in Virginia, as Brian continued a successful
career in the Navy. In 2005, we made the decision to move back
to our hometown to be nearer our families. The boys were going
into 6th and 9th grades and we felt the timing was right. Brian
stayed in the Navy 2 more years, commuting to an Air Force Base
in Omaha, and then retired as a Commander in 2007.
Brian is working now as Director of Operations and Development
for a large retirement village, and Vicki is a high school
counselor. Kyle is a Freshman at the University of Kansas (go
‘Hawks) and Alex is a sophomore in high school.
We are all very excited for our next adventure – traveling to
China to meet and bring home our daughter and sister – Sophie!
