About Meghan

On May 8, 2007, Eric excitedly called me from work saying that La Vida’s latest waiting child list included our daughter and that I should check my email immediately! I almost dismissed his suggestion, as I so foolishly thought there was no way HE had found our Meghan! But sure enough when I saw her sweet face just minutes later, I knew he had been right!

I went to the Lord in prayer asking that He pave the way and allow everything that needed to be done to come together quickly for our child-specific supplemental application, if Liang Xiao Sheng was indeed the child He had planned for our family! I am constantly in awe of God’s amazing goodness and faithfulness to us throughout this entire adoption process, and once again that evening He sent a clear reassurance that He was in control!

The next day seemed to crawl by, but then at 11:00am on May 10th the phone rang . . . I can still recall Amanda’s kind words as she congratulated us on being matched with this precious baby girl! Although I had so many questions that I wanted and needed to ask, tears of joy were all that I could find! I was barely able to tell Eric the good news, and his sweet response was so simple, “I wish I were able to hug you right now.”

And so the wait became even more difficult, as our thought of Meghan “some day” turned to a longing for Meghan “right away.”

According to the very limited information we have received, Meghan, who is waiting for us at the LiangPing County Social Welfare Institute in the Chongqing Municipality, weighed approximately 7 pounds and measured 21 inches long at birth. She has been characterized as a healthy, cute, and smart baby who loves to smile and who eats and sleeps well!

Understatement of the year – we just can’t wait to hold her in our arms, have her in our lives, and help her understand the special meaning of “home.”

“I am very special. I have been from the start.
Before they had me in their arms, they had me in their hearts.
And, like a single drop of rain that on still waters falls,
my life and love will make ripples and touch the lives of all.
So read my precious story as step by step I grow.
I am a blessing and a gift as each page here will show.”
