Hello to Caren, Lon'ee and Sydnie,
I just finished reading your final post to the site.  It was hard to do thru all the tears, but I managed to even read it aloud to
"G-papa".  This has been an amazing journey and I am so blessed to have been able to share it with you.  We are all lucky to have Sydnie in our lives and even though it has only been just over 2 months since she officially became a part of our "forever family" we have loved her since this whole process started.  We only first saw her picture a few months ago, but God planned to send her to us for a much longer time.  It will be a wonderful time for all of us and you are doing a great job with your parenting!!
I am so glad we will be in Florida for her 1st Christmas and her
birthday on March.  I am guessing that the new car will be getting quite a few miles on it!!
We both wish you the best of everything and especially to Sydnie our newest Grandchild!!  We love you!!

HI! I kept looking for an update on your blog.. Sydnie is absolutly beautiful.. My brother (Tim) said he met her.. and she was really a neat little girl.. We too are having a great time with Lily.. She has bloosomed right before our eyes.. She is almost walking and is standing by herself.. She loves life.. She also loves music and to dance.. (I'm not a great dancer myself) haha
Her surgeries will start Dec. 1 for her arm. We will be going to Milwaukee Childrens Hospital.. It will probably take a year to finish, but will be worth it when we are done.
Take care and I loved following your journey..

Hi Caren & Lonee

I've been watching with everyone at work at Wade's desk and got a lump in my throat every day.  I'm home now for 2 weeks so I have a chance to post my message.

Ken viewed your website too and we both agree that Sydnie is a beautiful little girl and your undertaking is phenomenal.

I look forward to the homecoming pictures and want to see a picture of her face when she sees her very own beautiful rooms that you have prepared for her.

Your jouney is almost over but it just beginning too!  See you when you get back.

Hi Family!
Again, a wonderful set of pictures.  Your daily updates are amazing, sometimes heartwrenching and always inspiring.  Some day when she is all grown up she will understand what you did for her, and what she did for you!  You can tell in the pictures that she is starting to realize you are her "forever" family!  It is wonderful to watch her open up and let you in.  Lindsey (my 4 yr old) looks at your journal everyday, and comments on the pictures.  I read the updates to her.  Explaining the concept of adoption was a little hard for her, but now she is excited for Sydnie and includes you all in her prayers everynight.  She also thinks Grandma looks like alot of fun!!!  Lindsey wants to be Sydnie's friend as soon as possible!  Have a safe journey home.  keep up with the updates if you can, and we will see you soon!

Hi Lon'ee -

How are you? Hope your travels are well. How's the italian food? anyway, I look forward to seeing you and your daughter when you get to Prior Lake. We have much to talk about, from one dad to another. Sophia is almost 3 and each day is so different. One day she is mommy's girl the next, she is mommy's girl. Each day? She does become daddy's girl more and more. Nancy gets pissed. When you get to MN we need to have a few scotches we'll have a daddy training class. All kidding aside whether it is the next day week or month you will have a moment with Sydnie that will be the greatest day of your life!! - Cant wait to see you soon. Have fun and remember, you and Caren have just gave your daughter the best gift anyone could hope for in the world.

Be safe, have fun, God Bless.

Thanks for all the wonderful updates!  I'm so happy for Sydnie, and just like Kay said, it's a good sign that Sydnie is sad - that certainly means she was treated well.  I remember when I was interviewing daycares when the girls were younger, and the most important question to ask would be.... Can I bring home a happy child?  Well, Caren and Lon'ee, you are!   She just misses her other family.  This is so incredibly awesome for you and you are just the right people to comfort her and make her feel loved and special every minute of the day.  Enjoy her and make sure you tell her you love her every day for the rest of your life.

Have a great trip and I'll keep in touch.... Love, Kelli

Caren, Lon'ee and Grandma, hello to you all and a very special hello to Sydnie. It's been so special for me to follow your trip. My heart goes out to all of you dealing with Sydnie's transition, all the things that must be going on in her little head and heart. One thing I do hear in your messages is the overwhelming love for your little girl and that is what will see you all through this challenging time. Daddy, hang in there it sounds to me like she will not be able to resist your charm much longer.
And knowing Grandma as I do, she is the glue that is holding everything together, she always seems to know how to put things in prospective. Caren, you have already wiggled your way into her heart, she needs someone to make her feel safe and you are the first and lucky one, everyone else will be right behind you. It's all about her now and soon she will realize what a wonderful family she can depend on to feel safe and so very loved. You know all of what I'm writing, but we just want you to know and feel the support, you are all in our thoughts, and everything will fall into place.

Hello Sydnie's parents!  I've been following your journey and wanted to give you some encouragement.  We brought our Linzhi Rose home in November.  She was almost 3 when we received her and she struggled terribly with grief.  Hang in there!!  It will get better, I promise.  My husband and I were in tears everyday watching her anguish over missing what was familiar.  God is holding you all in his hands and HE will lift her out of this.  She's so blessed to have you all and it will show very soon.  When we hit Guangzhou, everything started to change...Linzhi started to some out of her grief more and more and YES, the playroom and other children help out ALOT!!

Praying for you all in Illinois,
Amy

My daily visit to your web site and my daily prayer for you all.  I am aching for Sydnie.  I am also happy that she is mourning in a way because that means that she had good care at the foster home.  I am sure in no time she will be attached to her daddy at the hip.    I can relate in a small way how much it hurt for me when the daycare kids would cry when their parent dropped them off at my house.  It wasn't long and I had a few crying when their parents picked them up.  I am sure Sydnie will feel better when you are with the other children at the next hotel.
My prayers are with you!

Hello
I just kept following your site since the beginning even if I don't know you... but what you wrote today made me remember of my own experience... and understand the hard time you might all have right now.  So I just wanted to share a little of it just to give you some hope and encouragement!
I am a single mom with 2 adopted girls from china. I was in china last december to adopt my youngest daughter who was then 2 years 10 months ( special needs kid). She was in foster home since the age of 2 months , and it was soooo difficult for her to leave the foster home and let me come in her life, let me approach her almost the whole time we were in china. She screamed, cried a lot, asked to see the foster mom for the 2 weeks in china and stayed distant from me as much as she could . She would felt comfortable mainly in her stroller and fell asleep  in it  (tired of crying...) almost every night... before I could put her in bed.  But even if the transition was very slow and  she stayed pretty much distant back there ,  I could see her trust me a little bit more and more everyday.  It was incredibly difficult for me to see her grieve in such pain and not being able to console her as I  would have liked to. But that was her way of greiving and I had to respect that even if it was hard ..I had to  respect also that it was her life for almost three years in china,  and also be thankful,in a way, as a consolation that it seemed like she might have had a great attachement to that foster mom since it was such a hard experience for her to leave all that behind...
But what I wanted to let you know mainly is that everything of this is behind us now ... even if in china I didn't think much she would ever become close to me... I had to trust anyway and  be confident enough because God had greater plans in our life for us together...
So I kept trying to be patient, keep hope and stayed beside her all the time to let her know I was there and I will always be there until she would open me her heart finally ...
We are now 7 months later and it is a completely different little girl and story. Really it has been a real joy to see this little flower open up slowly but surely every day till now.
She is  just a lovely and wonderful little girl and happy little sister. When I look behind I can barely believe what it was , I can see the long way she came from ( we came from) and I am so impress and pround of her strenght and resilience after all... I always taught that she needed to be that strong to survived all that and also to struggle so hard to finally accept to leave behind all her little life back there and being able to be confident enough again to let me go in her life, trust me enough to go on in life together since then. All this experience was though but rewarding after all. So I just wanted to give you some encouragement,  let you know I pray for you and your daughter.  Keep faithful, I am sure you will see little miracle happen with your precious daughter.
Good luck denise ( sorry for my english since i am french canadian)

Lon'ee,

Keep the faith I know it can be frustrating.  She will learn to love and adore you!  When your nephew Zach was a toddler and I was sent away to the Phillipines I got a chance meeting with him on my way from Japan to England because he was up in Minnesota visiting Gram.  She took him to the airport for my layover and I was mortified because he wanted nothing to do with me.  He eventually warmed up to me (don't know if it was my charming personality or the bribe of the teddy bear I bought him) but, look where we are now.  I hadn't seen him for 6 months and it was hard for him; Sydnie has never met you so I can't fathom how hard it is for her.  I am sure she will get there and can't wait to see pictures of her in your arms too.  Be good!  K

I have tears of excitement as I read through the new experiences you've shared with us.  God has a way of bonding each of us with our new children and we all go through rollercoasters of emotions.  I hope that the rollercoaster ride is a fast one and that Sydnie recognizes quickly how wonderful her parents are.  It sounds like she's picked up on her great mommy already!!  The wonderful love a child brings far outweighs anything else, so be patient with the ride and you'll be rewarded by this beautiful little girls love and devotion.  Children are the best gift you ever get, nothing in the world is more important.  I hope that today's the day that Lon'ee gets to hold and hug her!

Have a great day and enjoy being back at the fun hotel with a play room!

Caren -- I didn't see the 'guestbook link' before.
Sydnie is absolutely precious.

It is great to see her grow in confidence and security with you as her parents -- it shows in her eyes each day and that absolutely wonderful smile.

Lon'ee is able to wrap himself around his little girl.  What a birthday present -- there is none better.

I am so happy you are able to share this with the people who love you -- I look forward to each new day and discovery with your new daughter. "Grandma" looked so "in awe" -- what a great picture.

You know I love daughters -- there is no bond so close.  I have never felt a love so overpowering as the first time I saw Katherine.  I know you felt the same -- there is always just the slightest chance that tomorrow she won't be there.

From now on Sydnie is the best part of you.  Some days you're angry, hurt, tired.... but when you lay your head on your pillow and drift to sleep, the only thing you remember is how much you love her and how cute she was doing [this or that].

Just to let you know -- I won't write any more long blogs -- so you're safe from having to read any other long epistles.

I love and appreciate you -- this joy could not happen to a more deserving person.

Keep safe

Okay, I have now gone through an entire box of tissue!  Tears of happiness for all of you because you have such a precious gift, she is so darling! Tears of sadness for Sydnie as she makes this adjustment, and for you as you try to comfort her.  End the end it is well worth it!

Sydnie has so many family and friends that will love her and the two of you through this.  I hope you can feel all the hugs we are all sending you.

Love you,
Marcy

P.S. Grandma - how are you?  What an awesome opportunity for you! I don't know how you are going to let Sydnie go (to FL) and settle for Dad =).  I love that you are a plumbers wife through and through, no one else would notice the plumbing fixtures =).

Love you too!

I loved this when I read it Sydnie and wanted to share it with your new loving parents because we think the world of them - you are a lucky little girl!

One year ago today
we had an answer to a prayer
when we finally received a call
to say that *you* were there.

'Though holding only a photo,
ours hearts were lost that day
to a tiny girl in China
    half a world away.

The baby face and tiny ears,
    the lovely almond eyes,
    the chubby oh-so-kissable cheeks
    held power to mesmerize.

The distance seemed to melt away
'though still a world a apart.
    Gazing at your picture,
    we met you heart-to-heart.

At long last knowing you were real
a child to call our own,
the daughter we were soon to meet
    to finally bring you home.

And now I hold you in my arms
and count my blessings from above
because just one year ago today
we were given *you* to love.

Love to you all,

Gail and Bill
