Ni Hao! Hello from China!
We had a very nice day in Guangzhou today and are enjoying every
minute of the Chinese culture. The people are very friendly and
welcoming.
After breakfast we walked to 7-11 in search of a diet coke but
they don't have diet coke here (I am having withdrawals!). As we
were walking down the street we saw several Chinese children
walking and they were holding onto a piece of fabric with loops
to keep them all together. As they approached us all of them
started saying "Hello" to us...it was adorable!
Our next stop was Shamian Park along the river. It is a
beautiful park with lots of trees and flowers. It was 10 AM and
there were a bunch of couples "Dancing in the Park". They had
music playing and were all dressed up and were truly enjoying
themselves. They were dancing around a tree and all of the
ladies had their purses hanging in the tree. It was really cool!
We also saw several people doing tai chi and groups of teens
playing a version of hacky sack. We checked out several shops in
preparation of our "power shopping" when we return next week.
Squeaky shoes are everywhere!!
After napping in the afternoon we went to a Japanese Steakhouse
in our Hotel for dinner. The food was very good but Grandma
kindly asked the chef not to put the prawn head on her plate.
We have met several families that have just adopted and it was
nice to talking to them and hearing about their experiences.
Only 3 more days until Sydnie's Gotcha Day!
Good night!
