This is PaPa Seibert…Home is where the heart is and so are we,
it’s always nice to be in your own space. The Sydnie update is
that she is your typical 2-year old with jet lag. We have not
had a full nights sleep and her naps are at her old times. We
started today at 1:30 AM and are still going even after an early
morning romp at a nearby park. It’s now 11:45 AM and she’s still
going strong…mother and I aren’t. Sydnie has accepted her new
home; she has not slept in her room yet and has spent the first
two nights sleeping on the chaise lounge in our room. She seems
not to be afraid of the cats and they seem not to be afraid of
her. Our relationship seems to be growing every day the only
time that she pulls back from me is when she first awakes, after
she is fully awake the fun begins. We are hoping it will get
better every day and we can get into a regular schedule. I wish
to thank all of you who prayed for us and wrote in our guest
book.
Caren here…Our flight home went very well with Sydnie. She only
slept about 5 hours on the way from Tokyo to Minneapolis and the
rest of the time we kept her entertained with toys and snacks.
That’s a long tome to be cooped up in an airplane and we were
very happy that she handled it well. When we landed in
Minneapolis , we were greeted by Sydnie’s Aunt Chrissy, Cousin
Logan and Grandpa! Sydnie didn’t quite know what to think of
them and she was very quiet. We had an over-night layover in
Minneapolis so we went back to my mom’s house and put Sydnie
down for a nap in anticipation of everyone who would want to
meet her later that day. When Sydnie woke up from her nap she
was quiet once again…not quite sure who all of these new faces
are! A bunch of her cousins came to meet her and once they were
outside playing she joined in and had a great time with them! We
would like to thank all of our family and friends who came over
to meet Sydnie on Friday…and a special “thank you” to Aunt
Chrissy and Grandpa for the wonderful decorations and food…it
was so sweet!
We made it home to Florida on Saturday at about 2:30 PM and were
greeted at the airport by our friends Teresa, Jim and Joylin!
Sydnie was quiet once again…so many changes for her to handle.
Once we got to our house, she took it all in and started to come
around. She is very comfortable when it is just Mommy and
Daddy….she laughs, plays and tries to get away with things that
every 2-year old does!! We are so in love with our daughter and
everything that she has brought to our lives. I’ll close with
some of the things I love the most…
I love…
…being a Mommy!
…Sydnie’s crooked little smile!
…how excited she gets over the smallest things!
…playing “copy cat” with Sydnie and Daddy!
…chasing after her at the park!
…Sydnie’s bath time…she has a blast!
…how Sydnie mimics everything we do!
…watching her when she sleeps!
…seeing her trust us more every day!
With much love,
Lon’ee, Caren & Sydnie!
Grandma’s Corner
Back in Minnesota
It sure is great to be home!! I am glad to be back in my own
bed, the beds in China are really hard…no pillow-top
mattresses there. I also missed my hubby and my recliner and
those who know me will know that I missed cooking!!
I have been asked about Sydnie’s “shoes” several times. When
Caren and I were finishing up our shopping we ran into a
clerk at one store who understood English quite well and we
asked her to tell Sydnie in Chinese that her shoes were
broken and she needed to get new ones so we bought shoes at
that store and the next day in the afternoon she let Caren
put them on her. Lon’ee tells me that she even wore her new
“Crocs” from Grandma to the park today. The adjustment is
going well!!
I just wanted to say “Thank You” to Caren and Lon’ee for
allowing me to join them on the Journey to Sydnie. It has
been a wonderful experience. I also want to thank all of you
who have been so supportive during this whole process. It
has meant a lot to me!! I am looking forward to going to
Florida in November and seeing a happy little girl to call
me “Grandma”. I can’t wait to show her off to all my
friends!!
Love,
