““Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it,
and look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection…
the lovers, the dreamers and me.”

It has been several months since we last updated all of you. In fact, we told you that our next update would include a picture of our referral…OOPS! Since that time, the CCAA has only matched from October 25th through November 7, 2005. That’s only two weeks worth of log in dates for three months…ugh! So, our earlier optimism has been halted a bit, but we are expecting an update any day now. Rumors are flying through the Chinese adoption chat-rooms speculating cut-off dates, but we will just have to sit tight.

On May 12, 2007, the Saturday before Mother’s Day, my mom hosted an AMAZING baby shower. So many of our friends and family were there…some who we hadn’t seen in years…it was a mini-reunion! My left and right crutches, Karen and Lynn, had the awesome job of keeping me on schedule as I unwrapped lots of love-filled packages! Thank you!!

We selected May 12th initially because we thought that we would have our referral by this time. But, as it turned out, the shower was something so wonderful to look forward to that it took away some of the sting of passing another Mother’s Day without a child of our own. It only reinforced how lucky I am to have a mother who cares about and values me, David, and our adoption.

 THANKS MOM…I LOVE YOU!!

So, we thought that we would share a few pictures from our blessed day…enjoy!

PS- Mom, I only posted pictures of your generosity and kindness…not actual photographs of you :)

A Celebration!

WOW! We cannot express enough gratitude towards our family, friends, and even some strangers we have bumped into along the way. This baby shower was truly one of the most special days of my life…we are grateful that we will be able to share so much joy, and love with our new little one. A special thanks to my sister-in-law Rachel (and Mike) who took nearly 300 pictures of our joyous day!

Sweet Things!

Diane, with the help of Jessica and Megan, lovingly made this beautiful diaper cake…she hand-rolled and tied dozens of diapers! There are sweet washcloth lollipops, and little toys sprinkled throughout. The colors on the cake match the baby’s room perfectly!

Dianne, without the help of Vincent and Mike :), made beautiful platters of absolutely decadent hand-dipped chocolate covered strawberries! They were incredibly delicious and a sweet treat to all…thanks!

Ladybug Love!

Stephanie spent months secretly working on an adorable ladybug themed gift basket. There are no more ladybug items to be purchased in our hometown:) If you know Stephanie, you understand that this was truly a gift from the heart…we are already blessed to know that she will be the baby’s aunt! Thank you!

Favor Please!

Mom patiently made little baby shoes out of Styrofoam cups, added soft pink ribbon, and some delicious strawberry cheesecake jellybeans…YUM! She and Dad also painted clay pots this winter, found a ribbon that matched the baby’s room, added some special details, and filled these with sweet, chocolate hearts, which I sampled myself :) There were other special items as well including bookmarks, from my Aunt Pat, lemon-lavender Yankee candles, personalized lotto tickets, crystal sun-catchers, and other dainty treasures!

A New Mommy and Daddy

And many thanks to my best friend and soul-mate, David.
Whenever I hear someone complain about the emotional turmoil of pregnancy or when I catch myself fretting about how long our adoption is taking to complete, I think about his perseverance, and dedication to me and our life that we have built together. As we have made our way through infertility, towards the end of our adoption journey, and to the horizon of parenthood, we have come to recognize, accept, and embrace that this is God’s plan for us. We thank Him for the gifts that He has shared and blessed upon us.

We pray that the next few months will pass quickly, and that we will have a picture of our beautiful daughter to share with you all :)
