February & March 2008

The Spivey’s are loving life these days! Ms. Tia has brought so much love and joy into our lives. We are eternally grateful to God for such a wonderful gift. Having a child changes your perspective in so many ways…… all for the good. We can’t believe that we have been home for 3 months now!

So much has happened with Tia since our last post in January….. so many “firsts”. She had 6 teeth when we were united in China and now she has fourteen. She has gained about 2 pounds and grown an inch or so. She says “mama”, “dada”, “done”, “up”, makes the cow and chicken sound, waves bye-bye, blows kisses, gives real kisses freely, feeds the cat and dog their snacks, walks us all over the house, the list goes on and on! We have celebrated her first birthday, Chinese New Year and our first Valentines & Easter together. Next up will be our first Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Family vacation. What a special time it has been.

We had a dedication ceremony at church on March 16. She was so beautiful in her all white dress. Her God parents, grandparents and Aunt & Uncle joined us with our pastor for the official ceremony. Many other family and friends shared in this special occasion as well.

Tia continues to adjust so well to us, our family and her new environment. I returned to work on February 25. Tia started daycare and even adjusted well there; better than her mommy I must say! She cried when I left her but did just fine as the days went by. Now, she no longer cries when I leave her! I am so happy that she is content when we are apart. Her special friend Natalie (who returned home at the same time Tia did) also goes to the same daycare. They are the smallest in the class but both are doing very well.

Tia still eats very well. She will try anything but definitely has her favorite foods. She loves green beans, fish, and chicken. She is not a picky eater – thank goodness!

Every day I look at Tia in amazement….. amazement of God’s love for us. We have been so blessed by the miracle of adoption. Having a child, whether by natural birth or adoption is truly a gift from God.

Enjoy the pictures and until next time….God Bless!
