SUMMER UPDATE
Tia is doing great! Since our last website update we have had
many “firsts” with her. We celebrated our first Mother’s Day and
Father’s Day, we went on our first family vacation and
celebrated our first 4th of July with Tia. It has been a very
joyous time for our family. Tia continues to bring so much
happiness to our lives. We really don’t know what we did before
Tia joined our family!
Tia will be 19 months old on August 19. On August 22, we will
have been home with Tia for eight months. Tia has grown so much
over the last few months. She continues to eat very well.
Developmentally she is right on target for her age. She is so
smart…..sometimes she catches us by surprise. She is saying a
lot of words. She isn’t putting many words together yet but I
believe that will come soon. Some of the words she says: mama,
dada, kitty cat, phone, ball, uh oh, outside, water, bath, bite
bite, nite nite, nana, baby. She can also say several names of
family members and friends. She continues to “grow up” so
fast…..she gave up her bottle at 13 months and is no longer
taking her sippy cup that has a nipple, it is now a sippy cup
with a straw all the way. Also, she is showing signs of being
interested in using the potty. She has actually used it once
already and has sat on it several times. She has all of teeth
except the last four molars in the back.
In June we went to Hilton Head Island, NC with Ben’s family. We
had so much fun. Tia loved the beach and the pool. By the last
day, she was running into the ocean with no fear! We had so much
fun taking pictures and video of this “first” for Tia. On the
last night of our trip we had a “photo shoot” on the beach with
Tia. She ran all over the beach in her little white dress while
I took the pictures. We made quite a spectacle on the beach that
night….but it was well worth it as you can see from the precious
pictures.
The month of July flew by. Our church had a fireworks show and
Tia loved it. She was not afraid at all. In fact, she isn’t
afraid of anything…so it seems. My work place had “bring your
child to work day” in July. Tia went to work with me for the
entire day. She was a big hit with everyone and loved all the
attention she received. On that day, she petted a possum…which
she called “kitty kat” and she also touched a snake. Again, this
child has no fear. I am glad she is adventurous!
In closing, I am reminded once again how good God is. He gave us
a precious daughter through the miracle of adoption; she is a
perfect match for us. In a recent church service, we were
blessed to have a wonderful special guest speaker. She spoke
about the many ways God “speaks” to us. Everyday I hear God
speaking to me in so many ways: when I look in my daughters
eyes, when she calls me mama, when she calls out for dada, when
we are sitting at the dining room table holding hands while Ben
is asking for blessing of our food, when I am bathing Tia, when
I am holding and rocking Tia..…..the list goes on. We give him
praise and thanksgiving for entrusting Tia in our care.
Until next time, God Bless! Carla, Ben and Tia Spivey |
