“There’s no place like
home. There’s no place like home . . .” ~Dorothy from The Wizard
of Oz
There is no place
like home. No truer words have ever been spoken.
We departed Guatemala City at noon and arrived into San Antonio
a little after 9:00 pm. Will was an excellent traveler! Trying
to be good parents, we gave him a bottle for take-off to help
alleviate the pressure in his ears. Not succeeding at being good
parents, he had the whole thing finished before we even taxied
down the runway! It was almost comical. Anyway, he had no issues
with ears, fell asleep for take-off, then awoke and was raring
to go the entire flight. He was an awesome baby though. Played
and played and had many people laughing. We arrived in Houston
and had a seamless trip through immigration and customs. Will
became a US citizen the moment his little feet touched the
ground in Houston. He napped through it! Daddy and Mommy were
overjoyed though. Our flight to San Antonio was crowded but
great. Again, he entertained everyone near us. He stared out the
window for a long time – night flying was great with all the
lights!
We arrived home to a wonderful surprise. Our precious friends,
after waiting so long for us (our plane was late, we were the
last off the plane and had a very dirty diaper to deal with)
welcomed us home at the airport. It was so neat. Will was a
little overwhelmed but enjoyed taking it all in. He was
fascinated with the balloons. Thanks to all who made our day
complete. When we finally got home, our front yard was decorated
with more signs and balloons. And gifts on the front porch! It
was like Christmas morning – only better!
We didn’t sleep much our first night but last night was so much
better! We had some visitors over yesterday and Will took it all
in stride. We are trying to limit the number of people who hold
him, due to attachment reasons, but, boy, that is hard. Please
understand if you come to see us why we are doing that.
Thank you to everyone who has followed our journey. A huge
thanks to Joe and Jennifer who host this site – they have been
on a wild ride with us and were always happy to help us out. We
are so grateful to everyone and so excited to start this new
season of our life. God has blessed us with a little miracle and
we can’t wait to watch him grow. We will continue to update this
site once a month to share our little boy. Enjoy the pictures!
Love to all,
Lynn, Tom and the newest Texan! |
