Where does
the time go? We have now been home two weeks. Sorry for not
updating sooner but we have had quite the homecoming.
For the first two days we were home, Will was in great spirits –
playing, eating and sleeping. That is OLD news! :) The Sunday
after we arrived home he awoke with a low grade fever and was
feeling lousy. By Monday night we were in the Emergency Room
with a high fever, and a very unhappy, inconsolable baby. After
many blood draws, being catheterized, and much crying (Will,
Mommy and Grandma!), the Doctor decided it was a viral infection
and sent us home. He woke up the next morning covered in a rash.
Poor little guy. We made it to the Pediatrician two days later
(delay due to trying to get him added to insurance – what a
nightmare – especially with a sick baby) and she determined he
had an ear infection and Strep! Finally got an antibiotic and by
Saturday, our happy baby returned. He really had a rough week –
as did we – not eating or sleeping at all. We are still trying
to get into a routine. Eating is improving. He loves Cheerios,
broccoli, mac and cheese and bananas. Sleeping is still a huge
challenge. Naps are few and far between and nighttime is usually
in 2 hour snippets. Amazingly enough, he is doing great. Mommy
and Daddy are having a tough time staying awake, but each day
gets a little better!
On to more fun news! Lolo and Bo (Lynn’s parents) just spent 10
days with us. We had a wonderful time and we were very sad to
see them go yesterday. They were both a huge help and Will loves
them so. Bo can make this little boy laugh harder than anyone.
While they were here, we had a “Welcome Home” open house. We had
about 40 people come and meet Will. He was amazing and enjoyed
the whole party. Our friends were very generous and we are
blessed to have them in our lives.
Will is making great strides. He will sit and play with his toys
for quite some time. He loves taking walks and being outside. He
is great in the carseat – no fussing. He adores his bath. He
still does not care for tummy time but is cruising the furniture
and loves to walk (with assistance, of course). He laughs at our
dog, Sadie, and sometimes loves on her. Sadie is doing pretty
well with him. I still think she wishes he would go away but we
are hoping that someday they will become lifelong friends!
Sunday is my first Mother’s Day, and while a little bird tells
me I getting some jade from Guatemala, the best gift I could
ever receive is upstairs having his bottle with his Daddy. I
have been so abundantly blessed and my heart is so full of joy.
I so hope I can be half the mother my Momma is. She is a
wonderful example to me and an incredible Grandmother too. Happy
Mother’s Day to all those that are Moms already and those that
are still waiting.
Please continue to pray for the families adopting from
Guatemala. Their adoptions have been stalled again and I cannot
imagine what they are going through. We are so thankful to have
our son home where he belongs. Until next month, enjoy the
pictures! |
