About Zoe Li

Here is what we've learned so far about our precious Zoe Li!

This is the Growth Report of Chen Yun Li sent to us from the orphanage where Zoe currently lives. It has been translated from Chinese which explains some of the wording.

Chen Yun Li, a female baby, was abandoned at the gate of The Children Welfare Institute of Chenzhou City on 10-11-2005. She was found and picked up by an on-duty guard. At that time, she was wearing white clothes with blue flower, and carried with her a slip of paper bearing her date of birth, a bronze coin, and cash 20 RMB.  This was reported this to the Nan Ta police station of Chenzhou City. Her parents could not be found out after the extensive searching by the police station. She was sent to our institute for custody and care on the same day.

At arrival, the doctor of our institute examined her, and found her to be developmentally good and nutritionally normal. She was of a slight build. Her facial features and upper limbs were without any problem. The rhythm of her heart was good. Her heart had no distinct noise, and the breathing sound of her both lungs was clear.  Her height was 45 cm, weight was 2 kg, head circumference was 31 cm, chest circumference was 39 cm, and the length of her foot was 6 cm. According to the slip of paper bearing her date of birth, she was born on 10-10-2005. Our staff named her “Chen Yunli”. “Chen” represents the place Chenzhou City where she was found, and “Yunli” means we hope her to love life, and become more beautiful and happy.

After arrival, Chen Yunli had quickly adjusted herself to the life our our institute under the well-care of the care-takers and grandmothers, and developed a scheduled daily life. Our institute raised the children in our custody in a collectively manner.  Eleven days later, she fully recovered from jaundice, and her skin became rosy and smooth. When she was 1 month old, she spent most of everyday sleeping. When she woke up, she would like to look at the bright places. When she met someone, the movement of her limbs would reduce. Her primary food was pure milk. She did not eat much, but had peaceful sleep. At 2 months old, when we teased her with a swaying bell, her eyes could turn as the bell swayed. Her eyes could follow other people’s face. When she was hungry or wetted the bed, she would cry loudly. After eating enough and replacing the wetted diaper with a clean one, she would return to a quiet sleep. At the age of 3 months, she could peacefully lie on bed and play for a while after eating her fill. She was able to fix eyes on the hanging objects by the side of her crib. When you came to her bedside, teased her, and wanted to talk with her, she would stare at me smiling. Both of her legs were strong, often kicked the quilt away. When she was 4 months old, she would like someone to hold her to bask outdoors in the sunshine. Her eyes could look around. She could raise her heads up for a while when in the chest-down position. She at times could roll half over. When we placed small objects into her hands, she would grip and shake them. When she was spoken to, she would response with “wow”. When we played baby gymnastics with her, she would be very happy. At the age of 5 months, she could nimbly roll half over in the right or left direction while lying on bed. When she was lain under the rack for toys, she would reach her little hands out to touch and grab the hanging toys. When she was tired of playing, she would lie on one’s side to sleep. She was very sweet.

In order to insure she obtain a balanced nutrition as needed in the process of her physical development, we have added a small amount of rice powder to her milk, and additionally feed her boiled thick egg soup during this time. We have timely supplemented her with various vitamins, amino acid, and trace elements such as iron, zinc and calcium. She has been vaccinated on a regular basis.
