Hello everyone! We are very tired because Zoe is quite a
handful. She likes to be on the move at all times!
We went to Walmart today and bought some supplies. A lot of the
things we brought were too big because we expected her to be a
little bigger. We also picked up a new stroller that was for a
smaller baby. Now she loves her stroller, as long as it is
moving (and is moving fast!)
The prices here are amazing. I went to a specialty baby store
and bought about 5 pairs of shoes for her. I think they were $4
or $5 a pair and excellent quality. Our stroller would have been
about $50 back in the states and it was about $10 (we splurged
because there was a $5 option!) The prices were so great that I
kept buying things, but then I regretted it when I realized I
had to carry it all back to the hotel ( I guess I really didn’t
need the two snickers bars, the two cans of Pringles and the
cokes, but the prices were so good!)
Last night, Zoe was very fussy so I had the doctor come check
her out (we have a Pediatrician traveling with us). We knew she
was teething and was uncomfortable, but it turned out she had an
ear infection as well. Luckily we brought some antibiotics with
us so we are treating her. You can already tell she is feeling
better, but she tossed and turned all night in her crib. She
actually slept pretty well, but she woke up at 3:30 crying. We
gave her a little formula with rice cereal and rocked her back
to sleep. I was able to get back to sleep at about 5:30, but I
couldn’t sleep past 7. Tom and Zoe both slept until 8.
Eating in restaurants is quite tricky because of Zoe’s need to
be on the move. One of us holds her while the other eats, or we
rock her back and forth in the stroller. She does eat some solid
foods like rice and eggs (and now, her new favorite, Cheerios)
but for the most part, she likes her formula with rice cereal
mixture. We are going to keep her on the same diet while we are
here because she has had so many changes already. We will start
introducing her to new foods once we are back home. |

We have also had a
few diaper mishaps because the diapers we brought were too big.
Poor Tom was practically out of clean clothes today because Zoe
likes to have her mishaps when she is sitting on his lap. Our
guide knows a local laundry person so we sent a bunch of stuff
out today and it came back nicely cleaned, folded and
individually packaged all for a very reasonable price. Thank
goodness for this because Zoe likes to drool, too, so she is
going through her clothes very fast.
The only other news I have before I go to sleep is that I was
able to get a few pictures uploaded (unfortunately not the ones
of Zoe, but trust me, she is adorable) The issue was first that
I was using a computer with only Chinese language options, but
now my camera is broken so I can’t upload the new photos. I had
already uploaded a few the other night, so I’ll have these
posted.
We did get a few more things for Zoe. We got a picture of her
from her first day at the orphanage, we got a few additional
photos of her with her Nanny and we got the ad in the paper that
the Chinese govt requires for abandoned babies to find their
biological parents (they have 60 days to respond or they lose
rights to the child. This is done right away when a baby is
found) The photo from her first day has her wearing the outfit
that they gave us yesterday!
That is it for now! Thank you for all of your comments! We check
the comments several times a day and it is really the highlight
of our day!!
