DAY SEVEN WITH OUR DAUGHTER
We write this log tonight with heavy hearts, as we have just
learned that Fel’s Uncle Frank was in the attic over the garage,
slipped and fell through the roof and hit his head. The doctor’s
prognosis to the family has not been positive. We are asking all
our family and friends to pray for Uncle Frank.
Please allow me to give you a little background to how special
Uncle Frank and Aunt Concetta are to Fel and how they have
impacted his life. Many of you know that Fel’s father worked
extremely hard to provide for his family. This meant that he
worked 16 hour days, six days a week. We thank God for Uncle
Joey who worked for Pop on Sunday, or else it would have been a
7-day workweek. The work schedule did not allow for a lot of
time for Fel’s father to participate in his childhood
activities. Fel understood why at a very young age, but still
needed a father figure. This is where Uncle Frank stepped right
in. When Fel was young, the extended families lived in Brooklyn
and were in close proximity. So, Uncle Frank would come over
routine basis and help his sister out and dote on his nephew. To
this day, Fel’s mom still talks about how Uncle got Fel to walk
his first steps. Fel insists he can remember that step on his
first birthday with Uncle Frank, in the laundry room walking
into Uncle Frank’s arms.
After Uncle Frank and Aunt Concetta got married and started
their family, the get-togethers started to be more like routine
parties. All the cousins played while the adults enjoyed each
other conversions and the family Italian food. In fact, one of
my introductions to the Italian get-togethers was at Uncle Frank
and Aunt Concetta house for the holidays. Wow, all the food is
indescribable! It was a wonderful time. Every Christmas Fel
talks about the old times when the family would get together at
Uncle Frank & Aunt Concetta’s house celebrate and eat for days.
Fel loves Aunt Concetta’s polpo (octopus) salad.
Just before we left for China, I had the opportunity to talk to
Uncle Frank on the phone. He was so excited for us and could not
wait to meet Mei-Li.
So, today log is for you Uncle Frank – you mean a lot to Fel’s
life and we look forward to sharing all the lessons and love you
provide to Fel with Mei-Li. We pray for complete healing! And
today’s parenting lesson is for all of us.
(17) Enjoy every moment with family; forgive and say I love you
routinely because you never know when you may not have that
opportunity again.
Please enjoy the photos of the Guangzhou Safari Zoo! Yes, we did
see Lions, White Tigers and Panda Bears….oh my! And the weather
was wonderful, the rain stopped, the sun came out and yes, the
sky is blue and the sun is yellow in China too!
We all live, laugh, cry and love on this seemingly insignificant
speck of dust in the universe. And yet, God loves us, he came to
this speck of dust to demonstrate his love for us by dying on a
cross and raising from the dead to defeat death, hell and the
grave….for us. Just so you all know, because of Fel’s mom, Uncle
Frank knows this too.
Tomorrow is a day off! Michael will meet us at 1730 at the hotel
to get our documents ready for the US Consulate appoint on
Tuesday. :)
