About Addison

WE ARE TRULY BLESSED!

Think back three years ago…we sent out letters to family and friends asking for a quilt square and a good wish for our daughter that we were adopting from China. Well…Jen's mom got the beautiful quilt done two years ago! It has been on Addison's bed waiting for her to come home! It is finally time for Addison to join us, and her many good wishes!

For thirty-three months we have faithfully waited for God to reveal the little girl that he has chosen for our family. It's amazing how time has gone incredibly slow as we wait. Yet, it zooms by and we can't believe that time has come for us to become a family. In a couple of months we will have our sweet little daughter in our arms.

God has allowed our hearts to be open to Addison. He has allowed us to share our story with family and friends, and has introduced us to amazing people with incredible faith!

Jen received the referral phone call on December 11th. She was working with one of her students on a 6th grade math test. The test was on adding and subtracting fractions. Something that Jen normally can do! Thank goodness the student understood what he was doing because Jen was no help to him after she got off the phone!

The night after the phone call the most marvelous sense of hope came over us. Spoken through a friend. “I know that this is right. This is where you are suppose to be, a mommy, a daddy, a wife, a husband, a friend, and a believer, God is truly good!”

Jen and I went to Willmar to pick up Addison's referral packet on December 12th. The second we opened “the UPS envelope”, our hearts melted!

Here is what we know about Addison:

Her Chinese name is Ye Gui Shu

Her Birthday is March 24, 2008

She is living at The Social Welfare Institute of Xingye County

Health Information (as of 9/05/08) states that she weights 15 lbs, and all of her development is normal.

At 6 months the welfare institute reported that Addison is a moderate sleeper, likes to suck her fingers. She is able to hold her head up while lying on her stomach, and also roll from her back to her stomach. Addison is quick with a smile, knows her name, and laughs out loud. They also reported that she is close to her caretaker.

Thank you to our family and friends for supporting us, and having faith that this day really would come! We are excited about our upcoming travel to China, and hope that we will be there by the end of March! Thank you for following along with us on our journey of a lifetime.

Our Beautiful Little Blessing

Henry is going to enjoy giving those cheeks lots of kisses

Check out that hair!

This is what Jen was welcomed back to school with!

Our first look at Addison!

When I’m gone, he said I’m coming back as a tree with deep roots and I’ll wave my leaves at the children every morning on their way to school and whisper them songs at night in their dreams.
