Grace lives in an orphanage in Guangdong Province. She is seven years old and full of sweetness and spunk from what we can tell from the photos and videos of her! She is stunningly beautiful, and her smile lights up our hearts!

We saw her picture one day last spring, and that was it! We just knew she was our daughter. The only problem being that her file was listed with another agency. Kevin and I felt strongly we simply couldn’t change agencies. Our adoption agency had already brought home Philip, Elijah, and Sophia. They were like family to us.

So we prayed and talked to the other agency and a sweet lady who had advocated for Grace on her facebook page. At first, they both felt her file needed to stay at the first agency because there was a family possibly interested in her. They urged us to apply with their agency. It didn’t look like we would get her file.

We prayed some more and even talked to three of our friends from the adoption community who gave us Godly advice. Our hearts and their advice lined up. If Grace was meant to be ours, her file would be available to our agency. If they couldn’t transfer her file to our agency, then she wasn’t ours to begin with.

Taking a deep breath, I phoned the lady who had advocated for her and told her that we were staying with our agency. If Grace was meant to be our daughter, then we would trust God to move her file to our agency. There was a slight pause on the other end of the phone, and then she responded, “Her file is yours. We can’t argue with God!” We had heard correctly! God had placed her in our family! That very day her file was transferred to our agency. The coordinator at the first agency and the lady who had advocated for Grace will always be special to us. They played a huge part in bringing our girl home.
