"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
Matthew 21:22

MATCH DAY!!!
We got "the call" on Saturday, September 3rd at 1:34 pm EST!!!  It was a tense morning as we knew that referral calls from our agency would begin at 11am EST.  I had the cell phones charged and ready and I was logged on to the Internet so I could watch all the activity on our CCAI DTC group.  After *trying* to take it easy all morning, I started pacing in front of the phone at 10:30am EST (hey, they COULD be early, right?).  Brandon worked midnights on Friday night so he was sleeping on Saturday morning.  I tried to form an intricate plan as to how we would respond when the phone rang.  This plan included abruptly waking him up, dragging him downstairs, turning on the video camera, quieting the kids and then being coherent enough to take notes and ask questions!!!  Well, we didn't have to try to figure that all out!!!  When we hadn't received the call by 12:30pm, I woke him up so we could wait together.  Katelyn then took Jacob to the neighborhood park.

At 1:34pm my cell phone rang and the caller ID had a Colorado area code and we knew that was it!!!  Keli was calling from CCAI!!!  She said, "Nicole, are you ready?  It's MATCH DAY!!!"  I was beyond excited and immediately started crying.  Brandon turned on the video camera and I put the cell phone on speaker so Brandon could hear every detail.

Our Red Thread......

I often wondered if we would immediately recognize our "red thread".  The red thread belief is a Chinese Proverb that states:  An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance.  The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break.

Most adoptive parents always look for the red thread when they get their referrals.  Sometimes it is evident and sometimes you figure it out later.  Our red thread came in the most unique detail!!!  About 1 year ago I read a story on APC of a family who received a referral and the translated name of their daughter was "stinky duckweed".  It seemed funny to this mother since most of the kids have beautiful names with beautiful meanings.  Her little girl was evidently found near a patch of stinky duckweed so the officials of the SWI named her that!!!  The story really touched my heart for some reason, this little girl found around stinky duckweed plants.  I must have told that story at least 100 times to different people in the last year since reading about it.  In fact, I was thinking of that story for the past couple of weeks when I was wondering what our daughter's name would be.  And guess what.... our daughter's name:  Ruo Ping means...............  "like duckweed"!!!!  It was such a surprise!!!  We feel that God has connected us through this unique and interesting story!!!
