LOUISA DAY!

Sorry for not getting this posted earlier. The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind to say the very least.

Louisa Day began with breakfast at the top of the hotel. The restaurant rotates around for a great panoramic view of Hefei. Once breakfast was over, we took a bus ride to the local CCAA office (Chinese Center for Adoption Affairs) to get Louisa. All the families went into a conference room full of babies. At first we did not see Louisa, but then across the room we spotted our little angel wearing a bright yellow jumper. After anxiously signing a couple of papers, the orphanage director handed Louisa over to us. She as beautiful as in the pictures sent to us, just with a little more hair.

Louisa was rather quiet and timid throughout the morning, we think it’s due to a combination of a new environment and a cold. When we returned to the hotel, we changed her into some cozy pajamas and after walking around the hotel, Louisa was ready for a nap.

After her nap, she was feeling better and ready to play. Avery pulled out a couple of inflatable beach balls and Louisa was crawling around chasing the balls and laughing. It was very special to see sisters playing together. Before you know it, Louisa wanted to walk around the room. With a little help from Mom, Dad and big sister, she was walking all over. She even took a few steps on her own.

We decided to venture out of the room and get some dinner. Jane, our local CHI coordinator, suggested that we order a Chinese custard for Louisa. This custard was definitely not like the custard we are used to eating at home, but Louisa loved it. Once her little belly was full, we headed back to the room to get her ready for bed. We gave her a bath and she was so excited. She splashed and kicked, laughing and babbling the whole time. Clean and happy baby.

We are absolutely thrilled to finally have her with us and look forward to taking her home. She is definitely battling some congestion and is not feeling well. Hopefully she’ll be feeling better today.

Love,

Julia, Charlie, Avery and Louisa
