This morning, we went to the Chongqing Zoo. It is famous for its
pandas. The municipality of Chongqing is surrounded by Sichuan
Province, which is where most of the remaining pandas are in the
wild. Our guide, Michael, asked Nicole if she had ever been to
the zoo before. She told him no, this was her first time. Nicole
enjoyed seeing all of the animals but told our guide her
favorite was the Pandas! She was full of energy running around
and couldn't wait to get to the next exhibit! She enjoyed saying
the animal names in Chinese and then repeated their English
name.
Our outing to the zoo was the only official activity of the day,
so we spent a good bit of the day in our hotel room. It was
drizzly outside so it was a good day to stay in. However, there
isn't much to keep 3 people entertained. We keep the TV off
because most of the channels are in Chinese and we are unsure if
the shows are kid safe! We have a few Disney movies on the iPad
that she has enjoyed. Plus we have some craft supplies which she
loves! That mixed with a trip to the mall next door made for a
slow day.
A little bit about Nicole's personality: She is silly and bubbly
like many 7 year old girls. She's very affectionate! Loves
giving hugs and kisses! When we say "Wo ai ni!" (I love you) she
repeats it. She loves repeating what we say and will randomly
say "Good girl", "Good job", and "Pretty". She smiles all the
time and is very sweet! She is allowing us to see more of her
personality every day!
On Friday, we will be packing while we wait for Nicole's Chinese
passport and other documents. Our flight to Guangzhou leaves
about 6pm and takes about 1 1/2 hours. Guangzhou is where the
American side of the paperwork is completed and where we will
receive Nicole's travel visa. It is the last step in the
adoption process before coming home! |
