We got to sleep in this morning. Actually slept until 7am.
That's a victory for Allison and I!
After breakfast, we walked down the street to an underground
Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart in China is always an interesting place. You
can buy Pantene shampoo, Dove body wash and Tide detergent. The
packaging is a little different, with Chinese characters on it,
but still the same product. Of course, there are a few things
you won't see at Walmart back home. Things like live frogs and
fish, maybe even a small live alligator, that you pick out
yourself.
We decided to eat lunch in our room so we could pack. We made a
noodle bowl for Nicole, which she loves. After lunch and
packing, we decided to go to Haagen-Dazs for ice cream! It's
interesting to be sitting in an ice cream shop in downtown
Chongqing watching the hustle and bustle of a busy Chinese city
while listening to Michael Buble.
Our flight to Guangzhou was delayed 30-40 minutes, but we
finally made it. Nicole did fabulous on the airplane! She had a
lot of fun watching take off from the window. We are at the
beautiful Garden Hotel with the rest of the Lifeline families. I
believe there are 7 families in our group. Nicole was worn out,
so we put her to bed as soon as we got to the room. She was
asleep in less than 5 minutes.
Tomorrow morning we go for the medical check-up that is required
by the U.S. government. After that, tomorrow appears to be a day
of paperwork and shopping for a few essentials like water and
snacks. |
