Today was our Consulate Appointment (CA). Since we are U.S.
citizens, we go to the front of the line. If we had to wait in
the line outside the building, we'd still be standing there!
Apparently, most adoptions are handled on Monday through
Wednesdays. Since our CA was scheduled on Thursday, we were the
only ones there. We were done in about 30 minutes. The officer
was very nice. He went through all our paperwork including
Nicole's medical report. He asked what information I had on her
medical condition. I told him what we knew. He informed me that
at sometime she did test positive for TB, but since the tests
taken this week were all negative, he was sure we would have no
problems (answered prayer!). He asked to speak to Nicole. In
Mandarin, he asked her if she wanted to go home with her Mama to
America. She said yes! As we left, the officer said he guessed
he'd see me in a couple of years when we come back. Hmmm...
When we got Nicole on March 7th, the director told us that she
was called QiQi (pronounced Chee Chee). The actual pronunciation
of her Chinese name, Qiu Qi, is something like "Cho Chee". So
since we've had her, we have called her QiQi. Today, we asked
Miko to explain to her that she has a new American name. She
smiled and nodded her approval!
Tomorrow, her visa should be ready. |
