Today was a quiet, rather boring day. All we had on the schedule
was to wait for our U.S. consulate package, which included
Nicole's visa, to be delivered.
For lunch, we decided to try out a local Mexican restaurant. We
had heard good things about it. Mr. Pancho's is a short hike
from the hotel. It has good food and the decor of a Tex Mex
restaurant. Their slogan is "A Mexican taste lost in China."
While waiting for Nicole's paperwork this afternoon, we played
games, watched TV and worked on Nicole's English. While working
on English word cards, Nicole kept asking the same question over
and over. We finally got her to say into the translator app on
the iPad. She was asking, "Do we go to the United States
tomorrow?" Allison told her no, two more days. She pouted
because she wanted to go tomorrow! I had to go down to the
business center to confirm our flights. While I was gone Nicole
kept asking Allison through the translator app, "Mama go to the
United States. Never come back!" Then she would laugh and laugh.
I think she is excited and a bit nervous to be going to the U.S.
After her visa arrived, we walked down to the movie theater and
saw Zootopia 3D in English. She enjoyed it and kept grabbing in
front of her. We thought it was interesting that there were more
showings in English than Mandarin. She smiled the whole way back
to the hotel and told us she had fun!
Tomorrow is our last full day in China. It is supposed to rain
most of tomorrow so we will probably just hang out in the hotel
and pack and repack. Can't wait to get back home! |
