Trip to China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Today was sweet and simple. Red Couch pictures in the morning and the Swearing In Ceremony at the Consulate in the afternoon. The Consulate procedure has changed A LOT since October 2008 when we adopted Logan. The new Hague procedures are now in effect. After we went through MULTIPLE checkpoints to enter our own Consulate, each of the 60 families was called up to sign the DS-230 paperwork and confirm their identity. Afterwards a member of the Consulate came out to speak to all the families and swear us in. During the beginning of his speech he welcomed us, said a few additional words and then asked us all to raise our hands if we had adopted more than once from China. A lot of people raised their hands. He asked who had adopted twice, then who had adopted three times, then he asked who had adopted more than 3 times and only my hand was up! He asked me how many times we had adopted and I held up 4 fingers! Everyone started clapping! Very interesting experience! Our agency group met for dinner at Lucy’s and we had a wonderful time.

Less than 48 hours now!
