Trip to China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Today was a really down day-nothing to do, but 2 hours of paperwork. We ate at the White Swan breakfast buffet again, went to the market to buy more water bottles again, took Ella to the park again, walked around the island again, shopped again, ate at Cow and Bridge again…the days are starting to blur.

I am posting miscellaneous pictures, but I have to explain some. One picture is titled “Bart and James.” James is a Chinese student, 18, who loves to come talk to us. He came up to Bart on our second day here and said “I practice my English with you?” So Bart and James talk all the time now mostly about sports. James is a HUGE sports fan, but love basketball the most. He loves LaBron James-Hence, the reason why he gave himself the American name of James. He always tells us that his “dream is to come to American and live in Miami so that he can meet Shaquille O’Neal.” He is going to school to become a computer programmer and when he has saved up enough money he is going to come to America. James loves to talk to Bart about the Phoenix Suns-he loves Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamarie. He asked for Bart’s business card today and told us he would visit us “when I make my dream come true and move to America.” So funny…love James. Another photo is a group of 5th graders that are going to a tennis competition this weekend and they were out practicing their group marching-music was blaring and these kids were marching and singing a song…apparently they have to march into the stadium where they will be competing. Ella was so fascinated with the older children and their marching. Another photo is in the park early in the morning where a lot of women gather to do Tai Chi.

Tomorrow should be more interesting…Consulate Appointment, Red Couch Photos and a Dinner Cruise down the Pearl River.

P.S. I forgot to answer a few questions we have been asked:

-Ella is feeling better, she has one more day on the antibiotic and she seems well enough to come home without another trip to the doctor.

-The food is great-not starving here.

-I am not sure what Ella’s clothing and shoe size is-some clothes fit her that are 3T and other do not. She is wearing shoes that are too big…I have really thick socks so the shoes stay one. When I get home I will have a better idea of sizes.

-Ella weighed 35 pounds at the medical exam.

-Ella was 92 centimeters tall (not sure of conversion).

-Our group’s special needs:

-Addison, has a severe cleft lip and palate…she is adorable and our group can not wait to see photos after all her surgeries.

-Lian has Hepatitis B

-Addy Grace has VSD and a lazy eye (not sure of the correct medical term)

-Lily and Lily Anne were premature and are classified as “failure to thrive”

-Our Ella has VSD and one other baby, Sienna is non-special needs-she is 10 months old and her parents are here for the second time adopting a little girl.
